My goal was to use it as an extension for my Altec Lansing speakers and The voices came from the subwoofer instead of the main speakers after adding the extension. When I first noticed the plug was hitting the sub case, I figured the body of the plug may have been blocking the male plug from fully inserting itself. In an attempt to trim back the body, I used a razor blade, but it was ineffective. After checking the female plug, I moved on to the male that the female plug had a metal shroud that stuck out from the original male plug, and I did not see a metal shroud on the female jack on the subwoofer. After removing the shroud from the female side of the cable with a hack saw blade, I finished installing the Plugged it in and it worked like a charm. I blew out the connection, then plugged it in. It took just a few minutes for my speakers to sound right again. In order for it to work, you might have to modify the plug a bit to ensure a solid connection, but it should at least The cost is relatively low though, so it's worth a shot.
