This JJC hood has the same shape and fit as the official Canon ES-L hood. The hood of the 71st Century II. br>br>Unfortunately, the finish is a little too "shiny," and strong light sources within the frame, or even just outside the frame, will reflect on the inner surface of the hood. In some lighting situations, this can cause more flare than simply not using the hood at all. br>br>The good news is that with a little effort and about $2 in craft supplies, you can upgrade the JJC hood. br>br>I bought a 9" x 12" sheet of "Creatology Peel" from a craft store. For around $2, you can get "Stick Felt. " Similar material is available for less than $10 on Amazon in multi-sheet sets. Alternatively, you could make a pattern with a piece of light cardstock. You could also make the pattern out of a sheet of paper. Because of the hood's shape, it's easier to trace the outline of the hood's outside as you roll it across the cardstock, then trim the pattern down until it fits inside the hood. I used the pattern to cut a piece of the self-adhesive vinyl once it was the right shape and size. On the inside of the hood, I used adhesive felt. br>br>Now, the low-cost JJC hood performs just as well as Canon's $27 ES-L hood. Hood number 72 II.
4 lens. Okay, so we all know that buying camera equipment can get pretty pricey, and unless you have a money tree in your house or backyard, there's no reason to buy OEM for lens hoods, UV lens attachments, or lens caps (though I do prefer to match my camera brand with the lens caps). Although it lacks the inner felt lining of the OEM Canon hood, it does have a matte finish to reduce glare from the sun and artificial lighting sources. It's screwed on, which means it won't fall off. There is a little wiggle room when using it in reverse mode, so make sure it is on snugly enough. When I'm not using the hood(s), I store the lenses in their own neoprene sleeves and attach the hoods to the case's exterior. So far, it's been fine; if you feel compelled to purchase OEM, go ahead; however, since lenses, whether used or new, are already so expensive, why spend more on accessories? Good luck with your shots!.
It's great that it's a lot less expensive than the Canon model while still doing the same job. I'm not sure about quality comparisons, but I'm confident this one will last a long time if you treat it with the same care you give your lenses and camera body. But, if it doesn't, I suppose it won't be too expensive to replace. I recommend that you go ahead and purchase it. Canon is being a jerk by charging so much money for a piece of molded plastic.
I've been looking for this one for a long time, particularly the twist on and off. I'm relieved that this isn't a threaded lens hood because my previous experience with threaded lens hoods was a nightmare. br>It's well-made and simple to put on and take off during the shoot. Anyone with a 50mm lens and a 58mm lens should get it.
The Canon lens hood, on the other hand, was significantly more expensive. Canon cameras are something I really like. Canon is the manufacturer of all of my cameras and lenses. Since 1979, I've been a Canon user. The only difference is that there is no felt inside the hood to keep the light from escaping. That hasn't been an issue for me so far. Aside from that, the hood's quality is excellent.
It's a good fit for the 50mm f/1 lens. 4 lens. It's not the same size as the Canon 50 mm f/1. There are eight lens hoods, so it's easy to get them mixed up. It costs a third of what the OEM version does, but it looks and performs identically.
It was stated on the box and in the description that it was for these lenses. Not by a long shot! It couldn't lock in any way. It brushed up against the manual focus ring and completely obscured it. This item is not something I would recommend.
It's just like the cânon it replaced in terms of quality.
