I'm new to ham radio and have a few Baofeng radios around the house. I needed a way to connect my handheld radio to my attic antenna. I ran a thicker cable from my room to the attic, but I needed a way to bridge the gap. This is where the coax leap comes in handy! br>br>I had a 3ft extension cable, but it was grating on my nerves. This is the ideal length of cable for my needs. Because I only listen and do not transmit, I don't have to move the handheld unit very much.
It's small, light, and easy to mail. Although I upgraded from my GT to an RG8 and a base antenna, the performance was not as good as I had hoped. The antenna theory is real, and I'm not very knowledgeable about it. So, while others may know a lot more than I do, I feel as if there is a price to pay for convenience.
It's simple to lose track of where your handheld's screen goes. Because radios are expensive, using a flexible adapter reduces the risk of damaging your valuable device. This is an FT3DR with an adapter attached to it. I am very pleased with my purchase of the adapter, which appears to be well-made.
The cable of the cabled connector will be wrapped in heat shrink tubing, and the other connectors are of good quality. I purchased another bag of connectors after seeing the first one. Connectors of reasonable quality that provided me with a variety of connection options.
I went with the longest length so I wouldn't have to deal with thick coax hanging off my HT. The cable has a manageable thickness. And having so many extra connectors is a huge plus. 'I'm overjoyed,' I say.
This was purchased to help my Icom 705 cope with the strain. I only used it a few times and it worked fine until I started getting bad swr readings out of nowhere. Once I removed this jumper from the equation, my SWR issue went away. br>Beware of unscrupulous salespeople!.
Chinese craftsmanship at its best.
The use of the radio is made easier with this cable. In the car, there is no need to use a rubber duckie.
