Questions & Answers

Has anyone figured out how to make the hdmi extender work with a PS4?

This is compatible with the PlayStation 4.

With these converters, can you use a splitter to project from one laptop to two projectors?

With this extender alone, the answer is a resounding NO. If you buy an HDMI splitter, make sure it's HDCP 2 compatible. There are two options available. br>A 1x2 Matrix Extender is something I would recommend. It's more in line with your requirements.

Signal feed that is inconsistent
3/5

So I have a fairly sophisticated home network (gigabit connection, multiple mesh networks, and a slew of devices), and the house was built with shielded cat6 cable. Having multiple cable transponders is a concept that I despise - I've been trying to figure out how to send a second video feed from the main multi-camera system. DVR in my living room, primarily for my own entertainment. a home theater room on a lower level Currently, it appears that video over the network is the best option - as long as the distance covered is at least 100' So, here's my'review' of the OREI 4k extender: when the signal is connected, it works great (high-quality video/audio feed), but as others have pointed out - it's not perfect. The signal makes it difficult to establish a connection. You'll have to keep fiddling with your AVR (Marantz SR7013) to change sources or reconnect the RG45 connections. There is no such thing as a sure thing. It's a great way to do it. This is extremely inconvenient, and the signal strength appears to be inadequate. On both the sending and receiving units of the unit I received, there is a DC power connection - I've been trying to figure out the power supply's specifications for a while now. 5x2. 1 or 2. I wanted to see if I could improve the signal strength by connecting a power supply to the receiving unit, but I wasn't sure if that would help. It'd be great if we could get some manufacturer support on this.

It works fine, but it does not resume when the display is turned off
4/5

This extender performs admirably, with good picture quality and no flickering or dropouts as far as I can tell. One thing that irritates me is that when the computer goes to sleep and the display turns off, it does not come back on when the computer wakes up. I have to physically unplug and re-plug the transmitter power before the screen will turn on. I'm not sure why this is the case; I used to have a different product that could only display 1920x1080, but it would still wake the display when the computer did. I deducted a star because it's a fairly significant manufacturer oversight/daily annoyance. I'd have no problems with this device if that flaw could be fixed. br>br>***UPDATE 1/10/20**
A few days after I first thought the receiver didn't wake the monitor, it appears to be working. I use this on a Windows PC, and I got it to work by going to the Power and Sleep control panel and changing the screen turn off to NEVER but the system goes to sleep after 4 hours, which allows the monitor to shut off after 4 hours of inactivity and prevents the extender from losing connection, resulting in the screen turning back on when moving the mouse as expected.

Not at all what I expected
3/5

Don't get me wrong: I find this device to be useful. However, it does not appear to work as well as it claims. At 4k resolution, I'm unable to maintain 60 Hz. For a stable image, I have to reduce the frequency to 50hz. At 120hz, 1080p is also shaky. I'm going to have to lower the frequency to 100hz. I was hoping for a nice 60hz 4k image, but this product does not appear to be capable of delivering one. br>br>For the sake of comparison, I'm using a 50' cat 6 cable with 6' HDMI cables on both ends. And, as stated in the instructions, the transmitter is receiving the signal boost; however, I believe this product would work as advertised if it included two power adapters, one for the transmitter and one for the receiver. After all, it is an option available to the receiver. It appears that they tried to cut corners in all the wrong places.

It performs as expected - It is extremely simple
5/5

In my business, I needed a few of these devices to extend HDMI feeds for security monitors. They are extremely effective. There were no problems right out of the box. br>br>The only minor stumbling block was: There is a power jack on both units, but only one power supply is available. However, you can simply power one end (I did) and the other end will receive power through the CAT cable. br>br>Excellent display - a good deal.

I tried two different units and neither of them worked
3/5

I was eager to test this low-cost upgrade to improve the 1080 signal from my 60-foot run between the avr and the television. I was disappointed in the end. br>br>I have an Xfinity 4k box in my setup. > Premium HDMI cable from Cable Matters - > 4K AVR from Yamaha - > Premium HDMI cable from Cable Matters - > The Orei Extender is a device that allows you to extend the length of your Orei > Cat6 cable with shielding - > Premium HDMI cable from Cable Matters - > Sony 4k Braviabr>br>It only worked on occasion, cutting out in the middle of a show or movie, and then working fine for a few hours - It would work for a while, then stop, then restart. Sometimes it wouldn't turn on at all; the system would power up but no picture or sound would appear. I tried getting technical support from Amazon, but they said they couldn't help because Orei's technical support was closed, so I went with a replacement unit in case there was a manufacturing flaw. I had the same issue with the replacement, which leads me to believe it will simply not work with the equipment I have (which is strange because I don't think I'm using anything unusual). )br>br>Perhaps I was doing something wrong, but neither the manual nor support were very helpful.

It helps you save money! I use it in my bedroom to watch DirecTV via HDMI2 or my Denon receiver
5/5

(In fact, I can watch any source from the comfort of my living room. ) It performs as expected, producing a beautiful image and relaying my IR signal from the bedroom to control my DirecTV receiver. My only wish is for a three-way IR splitter to control the Xbox UHD drive as well as the AV receiver. I no longer need a separate DirecTV receiver ($7/month) to view recordings from my DVR. It is extremely simple to operate. Only time will tell if the construction is of high quality. If I'm disappointed by the quality, I'll post an update.

This is a good alternative to using an HDMI cable
5/5

Where there were no existing cable connections, I installed a new 65" Samsung QLED television above my fireplace. My cable box and surround system receiver are located in a cabinet that I installed conduit from the attic to. This setup enables me to run an ethernet cable behind the wall behind which the television is mounted. Because an HDMI connector would not fit in the conduit, I connected my receiver to the television using this device and a 25-foot shielded ethernet cable. I've had no problems with this for the past seven months, and the picture is excellent when compared to a show streaming directly from the television's wifi connection.
