This lamp appears to be of the same high quality as the original. I can't say how long it will last because my TV is 10 years old and dying. I had to deep six the TV after it lasted two years.
It's obvious that the lamp is broken. I returned mine because it had a green screen! I'm not sure why they keep selling these defective bulbs; I returned a few and had to pay more for a factory lamp that worked perfectly!
Yes, it took about 8 hours of watching TV after I installed my new bulb for the smell to go away. It's nothing out of the ordinary; it's just a matter of time before it starts to burn in.
I'm not sure because I've long since thrown away the bulb's packaging, but it's still working and I'm happy with the purchase, whatever it was. The only things I don't buy in China are food items.

The first lamp I ordered in late August 2016 arrived on time, but I could tell right away that the bulb was broken before I even opened the package, and it was. That was replaced quickly and easily. The second lamp arrived quickly, was easily installed, and appeared to work well at first, but within a month, it had begun to dim and had continued to dim until it went out completely today. To make sure I wasn't mistaken, I reinstalled the OEM lamp I still have from 2004, which works and is noticeably brighter than the lamp I ordered from Amazon and which finally failed today. I don't consider a bulb with a 6-month life expectancy to be of high quality, and I should also mention that the bulb was glazed/foggy when it should have been crystal clear. I cannot recommend saving money here to those who want to save a few dollars. It may be preferable to simply purchase the OEM lamp, which is exactly what I should have done in the first place and what I intend to do now. Again, 6 months of life with diminishing brightness from the first month is unacceptable, hence the one star. I wanted to give them at least two stars for their excellent customer service, but the bulb's poor quality completely ruined the experience. br>(I'd give them a five-star rating if they'd replace the lamp, and this was an unusual occurrence. ) I only wrote because I couldn't find a way to contact the seller and this was my only option) Customer service was fine.
AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL This seller should be avoided at all costs. I bought the lamp from the seller a short while ago. The product arrived a few days after it was ordered. So I took the lamp out of the box and plugged it in, and when I turned on the TV, a message appeared on the screen that said LAMP NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. I'd like to remind you that it was only recently purchased and delivered. I didn't bother because I was leaving town the following day. After turning on the television and resetting the lamp life in the settings, I was able to get some back. The notice to replace the lamp is still being sent out, and the night is completely clear- Of course, the seller sent me a USED LAMP, which may or may not be defective. To sum - I've had a bad experience, and I'd like to share it with you. the purpose of writing this review.
It's been a little over a year. Review has been updated: br>br>The bulb and housing fit together flawlessly, and the brightness out of the box was pleasantly surprising. And that's the end of the compliments. br>br>Over the course of five months, the bulb lasted a couple of days. The television would devote one hour of its time to 3 hours of continuous use 5- 6 days a week, for a total of 18 hours per week on the high end. The bulb lasted about 432 hours, which I don't think is good enough. On the other hand, given that you always get what you pay for, I find it difficult to be angry about it.

Although it was a quick two-minute job, the "new" bulb appeared to be just as dim as my old one, and the television displayed the same error message: "lamp at the end of its life, please replace. " whether it's a reconditioned or brand-new item- According to the reviews, this is a hit or miss product, so I'm returning it.

I bought this TV bulb on September 24th and it only lasted about a month and a half until November 10th! . . . . . . I guess you get what you pay for these days, and I suppose I could order another cheap knockoff replacement bulb. Continue to pay $20 for each bulb, or spend the money and get an official Sony product replacement bulb that is more likely to last as long as it should. So I guess I'll save money in the long run by spending the extra money and buying the real deal this time.
The lamp arrived quickly, and when I plugged it in and turned on the TV, it looked exactly like the picture on the screen. I expected it to improve, but it is deteriorating; the line at the top of the TV remains, and the picture is becoming darker. I should've spent more money on a more suitable lamp. br>Update: They're sending me a replacement lamp; I'll update once I've tried it.
Feb . The replacement lamp was installed on the 25th, and while the picture is no longer dark, the line across the top of the television remains. Perhaps it's the television; I'll check to see if the problem persists.
