Questions & Answers

Is this bulb compatible with my 73" 3D dlp home - wd-model for film wd-model for film wd-model 73740?

Yes, my television is identical to yours. I've had to replace two of these in the last ten years, and they're still going strong. When you remove the old bulb, use compressed air to clean out the cooling fan. Change is a breeze.

Is this bulb compatible with a Mitsubishi Dip 73-inch TV from the 840 series?

I'm confident it will; the picture quality will be vastly improved. This bulb is an excellent replacement.

Please tell me how many watts this lamp has ((180)) or less. ?

I'm not sure, but for the price, it's a great deal! It's even brighter than the original!

So far, so good; it's nice and bright; however, read my installation update for more information
4/5

wd- 92840 For the time being, I'm giving it four stars because I'm not sure if it's a genuine Philips lamp. Some websites, such as this one, claim that if a lamp bears the AM mark, it is an aftermarket philips lamp, not a genuine philips OEM lamp. Not to say it doesn't work; I'm sure it does, as most reviewers have expressed satisfaction with the brightness. The box itself is a little generic, and a sticker appears to have been removed and a philips sticker is placed on top of that, so I had my doubts when I received it. The directions are also generic and lack philips branding. My WD92840 is getting a little dim, so I'm going to try this out and see if it's as bright during the day as it used to be, and adjust my stars accordingly. If it's not as bright as it used to be, I'll have to lower the stars and conclude that it's not a genuine OEM bulb. However, I will provide an update once I have completed my testing this weekend. br>br>here's a website to help you spot fake brandingbr>br>I just changed the bulb, and it's a piece of cake. Simply unplug the television, check that it is cool, and leave it unplugged for at least an hour. Alternatively, do it first thing in the morning before turning it on. The plastic cover over the lamp is held in place by two phillips screws, one on the right side facing the back of the TV and the other on the lower left side facing the front, and after removing the two screws, the plastic cover simply comes off. Then, if your lamp is original, you'll notice a large phillips screw holding it in place. When you unscrew it, the lamp will simply pull out. I attempted to install the new lamp, but the new smaller screws would not thread into place. Fortunately, I had a wood chop stick and was able to push the screws out of the new housing, as well as the one old large screw out of the old housing, before simply pushing the old larger screw into the new housing. After that, I was able to screw it in. OSRAM was the manufacturer of my old OEM lamp, which was a P-type. 180/1 for VIPs 0 E22r. Anyway, I crossed my fingers and replaced all of the screws as well as the back cover. I turned on the television after plugging it in. Whoa, all this brightness was missing from my life, or perhaps it's even brighter than I remember, but it's working well so far, so I'll give it 5 stars for now. If it fails before 8/1/15, I'll post a note here with the date it failed. br>br>Update 2: br>br> The green on light started flashing and the TV blanked out a few days after installation; I'm not sure if the lamp overheated and shut off, but it wasn't any hotter than it was the day I installed it. I turned everything off and on again, and it now works perfectly. The lamp is brighter, but at some levels, the white appears washed out in some scenes, and when the contrast is reduced to a level that is acceptable, some scenes become too dark. However, as I use it, the startup time is significantly longer than it was with my previous bulb. As it is not 100% reliable like the old bulb, the score is dropped to 4 as it is not 100% reliable as the old bulb is dropped to 4 as it br>br>Updated on January 1, 2016. It continues to function normally. It takes a minute or two for the light to warm up and become bright. It's also a little darker than I remember it being when I bought it, but it's not bad. I've had multiple blinking green leds since then, which forced me to unplug the set for a few minutes to reset it. But that's all there is to it; everything appears to be in order. However, I believe the price should have been lower; I will try a low-cost generic next time to see if the results are the same. Oh, and Electric Depot was the company that delivered mine.

An insurance policy for $5 is a steal
3/5

In my 73840, I switched from an OEM OSRAM bulb with an 8000 hour lifespan to a PHILLIPS bulb with a 5000 hour lifespan. I used a Mitsubishi DLP and did not notice the huge difference in color clarity and brightness mentioned by others. Even after a thorough cleaning of the electronics and visible optical windows, the TV is significantly brighter than it was with the original OSRAM bulb. I'm sure my situation isn't unique, and most people who use an old bulb will experience WOW moments here. I'm going to buy a $5 insurance policy because I'm pretty sure I won't get any feedback from the seller on this. Now I have to go find that warranty, which for some reason was not included in my invoice.

wonderful - This was, without a doubt, the best $100 I've spent in recent years
5/5

This was the most effective. My Mitsubishi (92840) is 92 inches long. I'm always afraid it'll break because I won't be able to replace it. The picture began to darken after nine years (yes, nine years) of fairly heavy use. It was difficult to appreciate the picture gradually becoming darker and darker, just as it was difficult to appreciate the movement of the hour hand on a clock. Anyway, after doing some research, I decided to order this bulb. S*T HOLY S*T HOLY S*T HOLY S*T HO It's incredible how different they are. This is how the photograph appeared when it was first taken. In addition, the repair/installation process was straightforward. Three screws, essentially. (If I ever had to replace the bulb again, I could literally do it blindfolded. ) That is all there is to it. ) Eventually, my image was restored to its original state. I can't recall any nominal sums in the last few years (here, for example). I'd live a different life if everything in it was perfect.

It does exactly what it says
5/5

After 1 day, it did not blow up! My television is a Mitsubishi WD 73640 DLP rear projection 3D 73" model. This bulb is in excellent condition. The fit is perfect. If only it lasted as long as the previous bulb. It's been 4 years and 1 month since I was born! Our television is turned on for approximately 10 hours per day, seven days per week! The first new bulb lasted for two years and one month! br>From Square Deal, I purchased a four-year replacement warranty. in case anything goes wrong br>br>With Philips products, you can't go wrong. I have a 32-inch color television that receives 103 channels via an outdoor antenna! br>As a side note. The color television is 12 years old, and the picture is worth seeing. It's almost 3D!.

All third-party DLP lamps are outlasted and outperformed by the Phillips OE brand of DLP lamps
5/5

They shine brighter than anyone else!! This is the most cost-effective way to obtain a Phillips original equipment lamp. The versions created by third parties are only good for a few months. The only disadvantage is that the electrode connection at the bulb or lamp, where the wire connects to the ceramic insulator, can be broken loose at times. The wirebr>connection is extremely brittle and will break during shipping. I can usually fix it every time, but other customers who aren't familiar with electronics repair will return it to Phillips. Just make sure that vital connection is in good working order before shipping, and improve the shipping packaging. The wire is simply riveted to the electrode in third-party versions. Despite the fact that the OE Phillipsbr>version has a better wire wrap connection, it is still brittle and vulnerable.

I suppose what you pay for is what you get
3/5

When it comes to this lamp, you get what you pay for. It worked and the picture was fine, but the lamp only lasted a fraction of the time that the original bulb did. br>br>I'm not sure if it's because of the lamp's lower quality, but after watching TV for a few minutes to an hour, the color wheel would freeze up and the picture would become discolored. It never happened again after I changed the bulb's brightness to Standard instead of Bright in the settings. If I changed it back to Bright, the color wheel would freeze, but if I changed it back to Standard, the color wheel would spin normally again. I guess I'll find out if this is due to the lower quality lamp once I get a new OEM Osram lamp and try setting it to Bright.
