Yes, absolutely! I fastened a section of 3/4-inch plywood to the roof deck's underside. Make sure you don't go through the decking; instead, use long enough screws to hold the plywood in place while you mount the tripod. I have a 3 foot tripod with a 10 foot mast, and my setup survived Hurricane Irma's 110 mph winds in 2016.
This kit includes the following items: Three 1" x 3 3/4" Pitch Patches Pads and six 1/4" x 2" long Slotted Hex Head Lag Screws
I'd take the pads off and seal the area with an asphalt sealer tube. It would seal better and have a much nicer appearance.
I believe they are zinc or galvanized, though I can't remember if they're stainless. br>As an added barrier against water seepage, I applied a sealant coating to the heads. br>As a result, in my case, stainless bolts are unnecessary.
Selected User Reviews For Pitch Pad Kit, 3 Foot Sealers and 6 Lag Bolts
Do you want to set up a tripod on your rooftop? Buy this. Don't hesitate to buy it without asking any questions. There are six lag screws and three rubber/tar pads underneath the tripod feet. Water will not be able to leak through your roof if you use this kit to complete your installation. It is NOT a good idea to use silicone caulk on your shingles. This is a must-have kit if you want to be successful. Prepare for roof leaks if you don't. br>br>UPDATE 3/31/2020br>There are no leaks at this time. Without the use of tar or silicone, the seal is perfect.
Fasteners and pads are the product description. Six lag screws and no pitch pads were included in the delivery. Although it's possible that the pads arrived separately, nothing has arrived a week after the initial shipment. For 6 lag screws, this is a sad and costly proposition. Will have to return, necessitating further research into other mounting options for the weather station tripod and weather station.
The bolts are sturdy and fit a Winegard 39" J pole perfectly. The patches are effective, having withstood rain and snow on the roof for over a month. br>br>Apply the patches on a cool day so they don't get sticky too quickly, and drill your holes before putting the patches in place so the substance doesn't stick to your drill bit and make a mess. br>br>Apart from that, I'd buy from them again.
This set appeared to be ideal for my needs, but I only received 5 screws when I received it. This is required for the mount I was planning to use it on. All of the contents were strewn about in the mailer, which was partially encased in an open sandwich bag.
While the items were not used in a recent project, they are still available for purchase. It's been set aside in case there are any problems with it.
It's possible that a heavier mil/bag would be preferable. The pieces were rolled around in a box that was part of another Amazon order. The items were fine and exactly what I ordered; however, the packaging is inadequate, which I thought you would be interested in knowing about.
Although they were thinner and less expensive than others I've used in the past, I believe they will do the job of sealing; however, I wish they were a little more substantial/thick.
The pitch pads are very thin, perhaps an eighth of an inch thick. I'm not sure how well they'll seal.
