A lot of time was spent trying to line it up properly because it didn't fit right. In the end, I ended up throwing it away and then buying a much cheaper standard Decora plate when it looked just like I wanted it to. I'm sure if you had 3 perfectly aligned Decora switches and perfectly installed them, this might be nice. Unfortunately, in the world I live in, they aren't always perfectly aligned. It was easy enough for me to adjust them so they looked good on a standard plate. It just made me mad when I saw this fancy one. Don't waste your money on expensive Leviton plates buy the cheap ones instead.
Several of my light switches were upgraded to Decora smart square rockers, so I also needed a new wall plate. Their eyes were clearly visible through the eyeglasses as this fit them perfectly and positioned them perfectly. It is very easy to install - just follow these instructions The bottom piece should be screwed in first, then the top should be snapped on. There is no doubt that I will buy from you.
I am not sure what the designer was thinking when they designed these, but getting all three switches lined up correctly (even using Leviton Ducora switches and outlets), having to clamp the insert internally so it aligns, and having the covers put on, is a very painful process. The clamping insert on the inside is just as difficult to attach as the switches and outlets. It uses the same screws as the switches and outlets. Instead of screwing the clamping insert into the switch and then placing the outside plate on, it is more efficient to screw the clamping insert into the switch. It's a shame that the person who designed this for Leviton seldom got to use it. It is my expectation that a brand like Leviton would deliver more than I have received. The reason I didn't return everything I used is because I already installed all single gang switches and outlets (same stupid principle, but easier to align as there is only one outlet or switch to worry about) I would have easily gone with something that has a screw showing instead. That's all there is to it, I guess. Do not attempt this if you don't want to punch the wall in frustration while trying to put a 3-foot high item into a tight space You can put the gang plate in place and it will look as though it should belong.
LEVITON HAS DONE IT AGAIN WITH THIS NICE PRODUCT. ALWAYS USE LEVITON PRODUCTS WHEN POSSIBLE, AS I AM A PROFESSIONAL ELECTRICIAN. I find that most of their products are pleasant to use. A PROFESSIONAL IS REQUIRED IN ORDER TO USE THEM. A 3 GANG DECORA PLATE CANNOT BE EXCLUDED FROM THE RULE. I can't say enough about how well it fit. I would recommend it to everyone.
Light switches look much better because of it.
Remodeling projects are made easy with this product.
Leviton Decora brand wallplates and switches have been replaced in my home. I love the clean, modern look that these wallplates offer. I have installed several one and two gang plates with no problem, but when you move up to 3 or 4, it becomes more challenging. My opinion of the install design is that it is just plain bad. To install the switch, you first loosen the top and bottom screws of each switch. After that, you slide the inner plate (not seen) over the top screws. The top piece is easy to attach to one or two switches, but once you have three or four, it can be hard to line them up properly and slip one over the other without it coming off the other. Top was more difficult than bottom, but it wasn't easy. As soon as you have secured the top, you will need to fit the bottom pieces over the bottom screws. Even though it sounds simple, it can be a nightmare to work with three or four switches at the same time. It ended up being necessary for me to remove the screws completely, then put the inner plate over the switch and screw the screw back in. A more straightforward approach is still challenging, but I think it is easier. thing you have to do is to get each switch to line up in depth, it may be one stick out a bit further than another or vice versa, so you will have to play with the switch placements. Installing each of the 3 or 4 gang plates I had took me close to 30 minutes, but I did make sure to take my time and it was done correctly and all switches lined up in the end. It looks great as soon as it is in place! In the future, I just hope that I won't have to replace any of the switches.
