I am setting up a home office that needs wired internet and a phone line. I ran new telephone lines from our modem/router, located in our upstairs bedroom, up through the attic and back down into our bonus room above the garage. A wall box was found along the wall in this room. After finding the box, I plugged my new lines into it and placed this wall plate over it where I could simply plug my phone and Ethernet lines in. In order to keep our home office lines clean and professional while keeping our clients in the loop, this wall plate is the perfect solution.
I found that the RJ11 socket on the back of the phone jack was the only problem. bought this to replace an old socket that had spade lug individual wire connections, so I had to remove the RJ-11 from the old one and purchase a short (8 inch) cord to connect it to the new one. I don't see the big deal here. Almost all network cables have connectors on both ends, so that's not an issue since the connector on the back of the network connector also has a socket for an RJ45 cable.
There is no way around the screws stripping since I bought two plates and tried two sets. Instead of using the stainless steel screws I had in the garage, I used some pieces of stainless steel I had. If you do not have the screws or want to buy a different product, buy them yourself.
There are no problems with the wallplate or ports. Unfortunately, the screws that come with the kit are rubbish. This is their. If the screw head (or whatever it is made from) is ridiculously soft and coated with so much paint that a screw driver cannot properly grasp it without flaking off the paint, and them it strips with the first resistance when you put it into your low-speed drill This is the bracket for the voltage wallplate. I have some unattached plates hanging from the wall. If you don't buy some decent ones separately, you'll end up with them hanging straight up.
I have no complaints about the performance of this faceplate. You can actually swap out the Keystone plugs that are there, because the unit has plugs in it. The only connector I needed was a fiber connector, and to get it in I just removed one of the four ethernet plugs and slid the fiber connector in. ** * I believe the price is excessive at $12 and it should be around $5-$8.
I was able to solve my problem in this way The outlet jack is not working. After plugging the wires into the computer, I was running in no time. The product seems to be well constructed. This is a highly recommended read.
There was a 25 foot cable that had to be run outside the wall from the router to my computer. There was such an ugly mess there. In terms of look, the use of wall mounted receptacles and running the cable inside the wall made it look so much cleaner and more elegant.
I use this outlet with both CAT6 and CAT7 cabling at home with no problems. It's easy to set up and takes up very little space.
