Questions & Answers

How many mounting screws does it come with? How big should it be?

Getting it mounted on a hard surface is not a problem. It comes with wall/surface mount screws. In order to mount on concrete you will need wall plugs. The screws used in wood mounting are standard size. I'm not sure what the dimensions are.

The Leviton structured media panel can you install this in? What size pegs do I need?

The N250 is amazing! Thank you so much for getting in touch The panel in this media panel will work with this patch We would be happy to talk to you about your application if you would like to. During sales applications, a team of 773 is based. Monday through Friday, 8AM to 5PM You can reach them at 6PM Central) and they will be able to

Can I mount this horizontally if there is no reason to?

In my case, I sat it vertically due to the conduit with the cat 6 field wiring coming directly above the patch panel mounting area. I cannot remember the screw configuration on the mount, but I can't see how any other situation other than reading the port numbers would be affected by a horizontal position. You will need to run the wiring through the side(s) of the unit instead of the top or bottom, just as you would with rack mountable ones.

Do I have to use Cat5E cable with this? I need a Cat5E panel, but the Cat5E version is out of stock and the shipping will take three days. ?

In addition to being thinner, CAT 5e wire gauge is also smaller. It's better to get a CAT 5e panel instead of CAT 6 wire due to its thicker gauge. If the theory holds true, you will need to ensure that you are pressing the wire down deep enough to make contact. These cables are electrically identical, but the cutters that pierce the cables have very subtle differences to pierce the various sizes (gauge) of cables.

A patch panel is a good home networking tool
5/5

At my house, I use this to terminate all of the CAT6 runs to each room. There is a custom "media panel" in the closet where I pull the media and power lines into a central location, and I mounted this patch panel there for a clean appearance. On the back of this panel, there are clearly marked connections and wiring indicating how each one should be connected just like on the back of a CAT6 keystone, so it is fairly intuitive If you are planning to punch down your box, you will need a punch down tool. You can find them fairly cheap on Amazon. This one from Cable Matters has been my go-to The way the white mounting plate attaches to the patch panel face isn't exactly my favorite, but because I wanted to mount it flush against the face of my media plate, that may have been the reason. It would have been better if screw holes were drilled in the patch panel itself, and in fact I might just drill new holes in the face plate to simplify the mounting by removing the white bracket from the equation altogether. I suspect that mounting brackets would be less of an issue for different types of applications. Due to my gigabit switch having only 8 ports, I am also only using 8 of the 12 The supplies I used to build my media infrastructure are as follows.

This is garbage
3/5

As someone who has been in IT for over17 years, I can state that I have never seen such a large number of bad ports on a patch panel all at once. In the tests I conducted, two out of the four ports There is a tendency for more wires to fail testing if you have to punch anything down again. In the end, I had to move one cable to my last free port in order to get it to work. The new port I was using was also failing, so I punched it down three more times (making sure to cut off an inch and a half before punching on again), and half of the wires still When I put an RJ45 on the end I was trying to punch down, it worked. Since I'm using my punch tool on low impact, I don't think it will be damaged at all. As a result, I will have to purchase a better patch panel and punch down everything.

I expected it to work better than it did
5/5

I was able to terminate cables easily to it. Installation seems to have gone well. Lastly, I'd like to point out that you should pay attention to color scheme. On the provided sheet, both A and B schemes are listed. This makes it easy to mix up the pairs. Don't forget to place the wires in the right places as well. Is not the panel's fault, but rather user error!.

This would be perfect for an attic installation
5/5

Installing this in my attic was my goal in purchasing it. In my existing home, I ran my existing lines up to it, then I left instructions for my contractor to run lines from an addition to the Using this method worked well and I only had to make a few changes What are the chances that this happens so often? For them to get started. It is now possible to change where the outlets connect at any time if I would ever like to make any changes to how everything works The lines need to be run.

Installation and use are both easy
5/5

I found this to be a nice modular patch panel to work with, and the new cabling it was installed with tested great. Despite the labeling being unclear, the installation was easy thanks to the included wall-mounting kit Describe the point. The wires seated and stayed in place easily and stably with my 110 tool and a single punch.

A wall mount patch panel like this one has never occurred to me (I have always used rack panels), but this one is impressive
5/5

During the construction of my new house, I ran cat6 throughout the entire building. As a line terminator, this was exactly what I was looking for. I have never used a wall mount patch panel like this before (I have usually used rack panels), but this worked great. The network equipment I have mounted on it was able to create a very aesthetically pleasing network setup by mounting it on a board in my basement storage area.

TrippLite has made another great product
5/5

I purchased this terminator to act as a point of termination for all my home's Ethernet wiring. A great deal of ease was involved in punching down the CAT6 wires on the back of the device.

The small patch panel is great
4/5

At present, I use about 8 of the ports on this patch panel and everything appears to be working well. There is only one concern I have with the use of plastic in While it has lasted and worked well so far, I am concerned each time I add a new port that I will break it. As long as you are careful, you should not have any problems. I find this program to be very useful for managing my network wiring.
