While it should work with cat6, since it is rated for cat5e, you should be aware that it will rarely exceed cat6 speeds since it was designed for cat5e. In addition, most home users will not be able to fully utilize either cat6 or ethernet interfaces unless they know what they are doing. Data cables in the cat6 range are not inexpensive and require a lot of power to fully saturate.
Selected User Reviews For Leviton 476TM-524 Twist and Mount Patch Panel, 24 CAT 5e Ports
This patch panel does not have any special features There are 24 CAT 5e ports on your standard hub. It is certainly possible to save money in other places. The Leviton Structured Media Panel is the best device you can use when working within the confines of a structure. In Leviton, the ecosystem is primarily characterized by the shape and size of their devices, but they use proprietary plastic clips to attach the devices to their mounting brackets. In the beginning, I had intended on purchasing two less expensive 12 port patch panels to use for my Structured Media project, but after realizing how much space they would take, I decided against it. In addition, the holes on their brackets didn't match up with the holes on my media panel, which meant I'd have to drill two extra holes in my wall (my panel is I have been using this panel flawlessly since it arrived. It is easy to install, durable, and has a sturdy construction.
The Leviton panel will be a perfect match. I believe this item is overpriced for what it is, but it was a necessary item to have in It was easy to punch the wires, but one pin was missing from the mark to show separation between the pins. This is a good thing I caught at the beginning of the row, as I would have been off by one pin when I got down.
There is no solder on the board. Defective. No indicator lights make it easy to tell if it is Color code paper at a low price. Covered with colored paper, the wire is rounded. The design is not well thought out. The price is high.
I am using this to wire an Ethernet switch for a Leviton Structured Media Center. As of today, there do not appear to be any other patch panels on the market that can fit the Leviton mounting hole pattern in Therefore, it is more or less left up to customers to purchase Leviton products to fill their SMCs. There is no reason for the price tag on this patch panel (approximately $70) to be In your hand it won't feel like a expensive product that costs $70.
But it does what you ask of it. In fact, I ended up using some CAT7 ethernet cable with this project. I found the thicker wires to be a bit more of a challenge to punch down, but in the end, I succeeded.
Despite its price tag, Leviton's SMC would easily fit into this panel. There are two empty slots on the right side? The instructions advise contacting Leviton for additional inserts, but they mention having to call Leviton. They say they can't sell me additional inserts - I called them up to find out. The panel called for all 24 ports, so I had to purchase a new one. I find this unbelievable! There is almost a sense of fake advertising here. In the future, if you want to grow, you will need to buy another one if you intend to get large. You have made an error by buying something twice as big as it's intended to do.
Anyone with previous experience installing networking should be able to easily figure out how the patch panel works. It's easy to punch down the 110 block backs with a standard punch down tool, and the wiring is routed through the slots on the blocks easily. When I was installing this product, I only needed about 5 ports however, I opted for the 24-port model instead of the 12-port model because I knew that the building I was installing this in would eventually be switched to the 15-port model. I was able to have some extra slots available when that occurred, as I had set my 20 port range. I would suggest that if you plan to use any other patch panels in the Leviton box that you purchase at least the medium box, because the small box would not allow for much room left over to use anything else but this patch panel, as it easily takes up one.
The punch down was simple (I used type B), it fits and works well, and there are little slots for wires in either the top or the bottom (there is no There are numerous pros to being an Amazon Prime member It fits nicely into the SMCs no problem (you can use two side by side if you have the larger ones. )
It looks clean
The wires are neatly managed (at the top or bottom). Compared with the 24 port patch, it's a bit more expensive.
Exactly as described in the description!.
