Could you run an 8 gauge into and out of an 8 gauge? Should it be four gauge, or can it be four gauge but not four ?

It wouldn't be worth it to me. To go from 1wire to 4wires I recommend starting at 0 and overriding it later if you need to I recommend 4 runs to power source for 8 guage wires, but if you want a solid connection all the way through, I recommend a solid connection all the way through
