Selected User Reviews For Surface Pro 3 Charger Surface Pro 4 Charger,KINGDO 36W 12V 2.58A Power Supply Compatible Microsoft Surface Pro 3 Surface Pro 4 i5 i7 Surface Pro 5 Surface Laptop Surface Go 3/2/1 Include Carrying Case
The travel case is fantastic, with a Velcro pocket and an open pocket. The charger also includes a wall plug that connects directly from the battery pack to the outlet rather than using a cord, which is another option for a shorter cord, and I assume it will charge faster if it is directly plugged in, but don't take my word for it! Overall, it's a great deal that appears to be working well.
Because my cat chewed through the cable on the OEM charger, I needed to replace it. This is a fantastic set of materials. They're actually a little better than the original charger in terms of comfort. Most importantly, each cable is equipped with a velcro strap that can be used to wrangle the cable. This was the biggest issue I had with the OEM charger; it was always a jumble of wires when I stuffed it into a backpack or something. br>br>The charger is in good working order; there are no major issues. However, the most significant advantage of this product is its ability to be self-contained. Cable management that is kept in check As a substitute, I strongly suggest it. $80 for a new OEM charger with the same cable management problems that my cat will almost certainly chew through again? Thank you, but no thanks.
I bought this item a while back but didn't write anything about it until I used it in a "hostile" environment - Having your belongings dragged around and having to deal with foot traffic. The charger charges my Surface Pro quickly and efficiently without overheating it. The fact that both the power cords to and from the transformer are fairly long means that I have yet to need to use an extension cord. (OK, I just measured it; total length is around 134")br>I'm about to try a smaller unit, but for now, I'd recommend this as a replacement.
I just go to Best Buy and reorder this exact same product whenever my charger stops working; I bought a charger for my Surface Pro 4 and it didn't work on my tablet at all, but it did work on my husband's tablet, and he has the same tablet as me! I like this charger because it always works when I get a new one; I never have to troubleshoot it; it just works, and that's all I ask. br>In addition, my cats are constantly biting the cable, and it still lasts a long time; it only ever stops working because I mistreat the connector piece, which is entirely my fault; I'm always accidentally stepping on it, and it STILL lasts a long time. br>The charger also comes with a pouch and little straps attached to the cables, so you can easily store it, travel with it, or keep the cables compact.
Microsoft Surface Pro 3 with 58A Power Supply I just got the power supply for a Surface Pro 3 yesterday. The power supply has a longer cord to reach the wall than the original, and if you remove the power cord from the wall, the Kingdo comes with a small adapter connecting directly from the power supply to the wall plug (in case you don't need the power cord going to the wall) - That appealed to me. There is an LED to indicate that it is connected and powered, as well as a USB connector in case you want to charge your phone while using it. In addition, the 12V line from the supply to the surface appears to be slightly better than the original. After a few years, the original unit developed a problem with the 12V line coming out of the power supply cracking. To prevent this from happening with my new KINGDO power supply, I'm using some tape to keep it from bending too much in that area. So far, I am very pleased.
It appears to be a design flaw, as I'm not the only one who's had this issue (typical MS, works great for a few years then starts having issues, aside from the poor battery life, which necessitates constant charging). The charger eventually failed, and I looked into getting a replacement from MS, but they wanted nearly $100 for a shoddy replacement. Oh well, it's time to look for another option, and this one appears to have a good reputation. It works fine, except for the extortionate price Microsoft wants you to pay. It also has a LONGER cable, almost double the length of the OEM, which is a plus.
Their customer service team, on the other hand, responds to issues quickly and fairly. I gave it five stars partly because of their excellent customer service; I've had it for nearly a year after the original Surface power supply wires frayed. I'm a very mobile user, so I'm constantly plugging and unplugging, tossing things in my bag, and getting around. I've discovered that the wires on this power supply are excellent and never fray on me, as they did with the original Surface power supply. The problem I've had is that the inputs on both ends of the power supply box have come loose, causing it to only power up if it's in a precise position. However, this occurred after extensive use over time, and when I contacted their support team, they were more than willing to send me a replacement power supply. In that regard, I appreciate their flexibility, which has given me peace of mind.
Pros:
- The adapter performed admirablybr>- It was nice to have such a long cable. br>- It comes with a carrying case, which I used to store the cables in. Despite its small size, it is capable of holding wires. br>- Surface chargers are notorious for breaking due to their inherently poor design, so having a one-year warranty is extremely beneficial. br>br>Contrary to popular belief, there are a number of disadvantages to using this product.
- I was given a defective charger at first, but it was quickly replaced.
- When plugged in, it gets very hot. Overall: br>br> br>This is a great and affordable alternative to the Microsoft Surface charger. The charging block does get hot, but that's normal for chargers, and it doesn't get dangerously hot. The cord's length makes it easy to reach electrical outlets that are further away.
