My original charger died after less than a year since I purchased my Surfacebook. After doing some research, I discovered that the Microsoft charger costs around $80-$100. Price range of one hundred dollars After spending $1000 on a laptop, this was disappointing to say the least. According to many reviews, the original charger was made in a low-cost manner. br>br>Thank goodness for Amazon, because this charger arrived quickly and in good condition. I plugged it in and the light turned on, indicating that it was charging my laptop, which had been dead for over a week. I'm overjoyed and relieved, and the cost was a fraction of what I would have paid if I had bought a new charger from Microsoft. If you're in the market for a new laptop charger, look no further!.
I just got the charger, so I'm not sure how long it'll last, but it does work right now. br>br>I don't like the idea of them paying for five-star reviews, so I'm giving them a one-star rating.
For travel, the cord is wrapped with velcro. Auxiliary USB outlet on the transformer (box in line with cord) for charging another device! Plug fits perfectly in Surface tablet, nice and snug. Excellent value for money!.
BUYING IS A MISTAKE. My Surface Pro 4 has never overheated in my experience. My computer overheated and caused a screen flicker the first time I used this product to charge it. I switched back to my factory charger the next day and haven't had any problems with overheating since. DO NOT USE. br>br>.
I was hesitant to purchase an off-the-shelf item. brand new charger for my Surface Book 2, but after reading other positive reviews, I decided to give it a try. br>br>When the product arrived, I still had the old (damaged) charger cable to compare it to; the replacement definitely used a thinner wire, which I thought was a bit of a red flag, but it has worked flawlessly thus far. Since then, I've had no problems with the charger. It has all of the same features as my old charger, including the same style indicator light that illuminates when my laptop is charging. br>br>Attention: br>br>Disclaimer: The seller requests that we leave a 5-star rating. For compensation, I gave a five-star review. Despite this, I am at a loss for words at this point.
The charger isn't up to par. I've had to buy two replacements for my surface charger from Amazon, and they're both the same in that charging my Surface Pro causes the mouse to go crazy. When you try to select text, for example, the mouse cursor moves in all directions, making it impossible to make a selection. Also, don't believe everything you read in the reviews. For writing a five-star review, the company offers a ten-dollar Amazon credit. I purchased one of these a year ago (from a different company), and it lasted the entire year. Same problem with the cursor. br>br>If you can afford it, the Microsoft standard charger is the way to go. My Microsoft one lasted for years, even when my cats chewed on the wires. This charger does not appear to be safe for the battery. My laptop has been dying in a few hours since I've been using these cheaper chargers; however, my laptop is about 5 or 6 years old, so battery drain is to be expected. But, unlike freshman and sophomore year, when I had multiple classes on campus each day, it won't get me through my classes on campus these days. In any case, the charger isn't very good. It is, however, within reach.
Fortunately, I was only burned and had molten plastic welded into my shoulder. Something was causing me pain, so I awoke. I couldn't tell what it was because all I could see was a buzzing, flashing blue light. I shook it a little more to make sure it was the charger, and then I unplugged it. When I wake up, two small pits filled with plastic from the charger have formed in my shoulder. This charger has the potential to set your house on fire as well as harm you. It was possible for me to pass away.
However, it is ineffective. This is the second time I've purchased a charger like this. Because I move around a lot, the end of the cable that connects to the computer frays from all of the connecting and disconnecting. There are no genuine complaints because this is a problem with all chargers. Indeed, the first of these chargers lasted me longer than both of my OEM chargers, and at a fraction of the cost!br>br>What's good? My Surface Pro gets a charge from it. The laptop accepts the magnet with ease. It's small and compact, making it easy to pack. It is reasonably priced. All of this is fantastic. br>br>What's the catch? There's a cord clip that can slide up and down the cord, but when it's slid all the way to the magnetic connector, it often gets in the way of the laptop connection. As a result, I have to slide this rubber clip up the rubber cable almost every time I plug in the charger. This is inconvenient because it increases wear and tear on the product's weakest part. What's the problem? br>br> The trackpad on the Surface Pro Keyboard Cover was broken by the charger (both this one and the previous version I had). The mouse will simply stop working from time to time (as if it were to crash and take 5-minutes to restart). To reset, wait 10 seconds. The issue is immediately resolved by disconnecting the charger, and the OEM charger was not the source of the problem. Multiple Surface Pro laptops and Surface Pro Keyboard Covers are affected by the problem. br>br>I can't tell you how aggravating the trackpad crash issue is. The problem can be solved by using an external mouse, but this isn't always possible. Sitting in airports and working on documents, for example, can be excruciating. Will I return it? br>br>Will I return it? No - It continues to provide power to my computer. This one will go on my desk, where I have a dedicated external mouse, and I'll get a better travel charger. However, you should be aware that this product is not as good as the OEM (and it costs about a third less). Would I tell others about this? br>br>Would I tell others about this? Depending on the use case, perhaps. It's a low-cost power supply. There are issues with it. EDIT: br>br> When I connected the charger to the computer shortly after writing this review, it began to spark. I'm returning it because it doesn't appear that it can be used as a safe charger.
