NO, this isn't going to work at all. A special port known as a 1394 is required. It is not difficult to install on a computer; it simply plugs into the motherboard; however, this will not work, and I informed the seller of this in my comments.
The condenser is in perfect working order.
I wouldn't put my trust in it because a lot of those third-party device adapters don't work on Macs. I have a few that don't work.
This adapter does not function in any way.

It's a bad idea to use it. This was purchased in exchange for a Presonus Digital Mixer. I was getting a new laptop that didn't have Firewire (the only protocol this mixer supports), so I wanted to see if I could use a USB adapter to communicate with it or if I needed to sell it and buy a new mixer. Not only did it not work, but my computer also sent me a distressing message about a voltage surge and how it was shutting down because it was dangerous to the motherboard; since then, I've been getting digital distortion from the mixer when connected to the computer (I haven't tested it in live settings), but I suspect it damaged my mixer as well. This adapter was not $7; instead, it was $1500.
This isn't going to work at all! When using a Mac, I get a warning that USB is overloaded and shuts down when it is plugged in. When I remove it, the USB appears again. I was simply attempting to use an old firewire thumb drive, which would have been far too inconvenient to return. Purchases should be avoided. br>br>Recent changes: br>br> The level of customer service is excellent. They were aware of my dissatisfaction with the product - posed some inquiries - It should be noted that the device does not support a "drive" (I was using a thumb drive at the time). They gave me a refund, and my Mac's USB port was not damaged - As a result, I'm not out anything.
I'm not sure what this is supposed to accomplish, but it doesn't work in any of the scenarios I've tried. Equipment from the early 2000s was used for audio recording and video editing. I'm not sure if I'm saying this correctly, but USB and FireWire are fundamentally different technologies. Not only do the two methods use different hardware, but they also run on different software. USBs use the ACK/NAK protocol, whereas FireWire uses the DMA transfer protocol. To summarize, FireWire sends data in bursts, whereas USB sends data at a constant (and fast) rate. On both sides of the data transfer, FireWire requires a processor. br>br>Of course, I found out about this after I bought the unit. So it's not the unit that's the problem. But I'm at a loss as to how this device could possibly be useful.
This item is a total rip-off. To begin with, the Firewire and USB standards are incompatible. The ports do not have a direct converter. When you open one of these adapters, you'll find wires and glue inside. This is a fire hazard as well as a risk to your computer. br>br>DO NOT. NOT. BUY.
It's exactly like it says it is. However, it lacks any data conversion capabilities and allows the Firewire voltage to pass directly through to your USB port, despite the fact that both ports use two very different voltage levels, so I'm not sure how this would ever be used.
A product that appears to offer something that isn't technically possible is more likely. br>br>I needed to get data from an old external hard drive that had a firewire connection. The hard drive is self-sufficient in terms of power. I bought this to plug the drive into the USB port on my Mac desktop, but I get a message saying the drive is consuming too much power and the USB port has been temporarily disabled. br>br>Perhaps this item serves some other purpose, but mine appears to be one of the more basic functions for which this item would be purchased, and it does not work.
This is fantastic, but you must first comprehend what it is and how to apply it. This adapter will not connect a firewire device to a computer's USB port, but it did allow me to connect my firewire device to a USB Type C or Thunderbolt port. br> When you use both of these adapters, it's fantastic. USB type C, on the other hand, is compatible with firewire.
I was unable to make it work. I'm not sure if the problem is with this device or with my gear. However, there does not appear to have been any quality control. One resembles the photograph, while the other is twisted badly.
