Unfortunately, there is not much to review since I could not get the unit to install and I wasn't prompted to use the installation wizard. The degree I have is in information technology. My zero toleration policy when it comes to faulty equipment or equipment that is hard to install applies to me as an IT professional. In instances where you follow the instructions to the letter and it fails to function as described. The return route is backwards. It will not be worth my time to talk to a first-level support clerk for hours on end. There are problems with the unit. It doesn't work as advertised or as instructed.

In order to get 3 stars, the interface had to be convoluted. Adjusting wireless settings is a challenge, and I work with Cisco, Meraki, Unifi, SonicWall, Watchguard, and many others every day. I think the person responsible for designing the interface is an expert Aside from a wonky interface, it seems to work well and routes traffic and allows inbound traffic according to its settings. It needs some work on the user interface, but after a few minor adjustments, it is a solid and enterprise-class budget firewall.

I myself would not purchase any Zyxel product from them. You will not regret spending the extra money on a SonicWall or a WatchGuard (unless you get an incompetent one). The possibility that I may have received a faulty (insensitive) unit is something I am willing to consider. Despite this, I would not recommend purchasing a Zyxel due to its poor technical support and unclear.

A subscription to this unit's content filter convinced me to purchase it. Although I was able to configure the content filter, I am disappointed to discover that HTTPS is not being inspected You can browse sites here. In that case, if you want to keep your family away from inappropriate websites, this product is not the right choice because most of these sites require HTTPS encryption. Consider returning the product seriously.

Through its restrictive firewall policy, I am able to separate up to three parts of the internal network security. In addition to the other useful features, I have not even scratched the surface of what can be done with it. I found the unit to be quiet, stable, and cool to run. You will need some expertise in networking and firewall configuration for this device since it is not a simple device. Don't try to configure Linksys or Netgear if you find the configuration confusing. This option offers more features and control and will not let you down if you are familiar with networking.

After I purchased and installed the wired USG20 router, I realized the dashboard for the wired USG20W was a lot like that. The only way I found to exclude possible misuse of the WiFi access point and my personal network was to use some type of MAC address filtering. IP addresses and MAC addresses can be bound together, so it would be possible to assign the entire available IP address range to the designated MAC address. I was attracted to the ZyXEL router because of its very positive reviews and because it was on a list that was priced competitively in the recommended end-user list.

The router installation required the assistance of my VoIP provider to properly set it up. wasn't something I could have done as a computer novice. After installing, I had a message that said there was a firmware update available. My IT person did the update for me, and it was not an easy job because the instructions were unclear. In addition, the router is equipped with a built in VPN, but we are not sure if it's enabled or how to enable it if it isn't.
