Questions & Answers

Are there 2 units included with this?

There are two units in the package. As well as getting my POE camera to work, I also was able to get a POE switch to work (I got an unmanaged one for a more straightforward setup). It works very well!

Would it be possible for someone to explain ?

The version you refer to will determine if it is okay. WiFi is available on the PLW1010 but it is not available on the PL1010. There is an ethernet port on both units. The base unit is next to your router. To get the best throughput from your router and into your house wiring, connect the base unit to your router using Ethernet. Connecting the unit to an electrical outlet will send your LAN signal through your wiring, thus being received by the remote units elsewhere in the house which are plugged into other wiring. An Ethernet port is available on the remote unit, so you can connect a Smart TV, Bluray Player, Game Console, or anything else you want to the ethernet connection and get pretty good network response (probably not gigabit, but very good). When using the Wifi version (PLW10010), the remote unit is also able to transmit wireless signals. Although I have not purchased this WiFi product yet, I have an ethernet only version of it at the moment and am investigating this to improve the Wifi signal in remote areas of my home for my iPhone and iPad). Consequently, the electrical wiring in my house is rather sketchy, noisy, and fluctuating however, this technology seems to work even on the opposite side of the house I have even plugged the base unit into an extension cord and it is still working. Bottom line is that this extends your LAN signal via ethernet to a remote room in your home, and the WiFi version of this creates a WiFi access point in the same Based on what others have said on this site, Wifi is merely an extension of your router's WiFi in SSID and password. The answer to your question I hope follows.

What will I get if I buy two of these kits? Will I get one transmitter and three receivers or two ?

You need to remember that the video on the product page could mislead In the video, it is stated there is a WiFi extender PLW1010, but you cannot purchase it. In the event you buy two kits, you will have 2 - Distribution of one powerline LAN device (non-cable) Wireless Internet (WiFi) *br A WiFi extender and a USB hub The PL receiver and W/i broadcasting are connected to a single Ethernet port) You will need a non-powered receiver Connect a power outlet and a single Ethernet cable to your WiFi router and use it as a

Does the set come with a number of adapters? Two powerline adapters are included in the "Netgear powerline 1200". Can you confirm that the "netgear powerline 2000 + extra outlet" also has 2 adapters?

In short, yes. You will receive two Ethernet cables, as well as two USB adapters. It is possible to use up to four cables. On each unit, there are two cables.

If you pass the test Although the through plug is good, the case is bulky and covers up the port
4/5

If you pass the test The through plug is nice, but the case is bulky and covers the other There was no way I could even fit a two-prong plug on top of Any writer who has limited outlets, such as me, should give a thumbs up. In general, it is a lovely device, just a bit sloppy in design.

This affects loudspeakers because it blocks the upper socket and is an RFI/EMI transmitter
3/5

I'll start with the positive. Once I was able to communicate with the units, I got 1Gbps However, I do want to draw attention to a few negatives There's something wrong with blocking the upper outlet on this design. Older models did not block this outlet, so I am not sure what caused this design to regress. My experience with setting up the device was finicky, as I had to go up and down the stairs repeatedly, pressing the sync button for 3 seconds for each unit repeatedly until they The only reason I gave this only 2 stars is because the powerline adapter causes my external speakers to have massive static in proportion to how much data is being transmitted. When I access the speedtest web site, the speakers sound like they are going crazy, regardless of what level of volume is set. We were unable to obtain any assistance from Netgear Technical Support. I was told to return the product. After I found a workaround on my own, the issue was resolved. My battery powered speakers were not affected by the issue, so that led me to believe the issue was probably an interference issue with In order to get around this problem, I had to buy an additional cable.

I used this for around nine months with no problems A decade
3/5

Worked well, until something in your house that consumed a lot of power turned on, such as the air conditioner, and the lights dimmed for a moment. As soon as the connection is lost, you will be kicked off the server. If you're using this to play online games, you will In the event that you don't have this kind of problem within your home, you'll be fine.

When it is functioning well it is amazing. Currently, I use it for my Xbox and Playstation, which are about 30 feet away from the router and are surrounded by four With this method, I get an average of 90 mbps down and 24 up, and in comparison to the WiFi, I get 50 mbps down and 15 up on Playing online as a household is so much more enjoyable than playing alone. I experience no lag at all when everyone is online, which is really nice. *Edit I bought the adapter in 2013. I've had a problem with it since then. It started happening a few months ago but it would work for a short while then stop and then come back, but now it is working for the whole month. If I wanted another one I'd purchase it, but they only sell them in a 2 pack, so what am I supposed to do with the third Yes. I think we should keep this one until one of the others breaks within the next 12 months.

Don't rely on WiFi powerline is the way to go
5/5

In order not to waste money on new WiFi routers and extenders that simply didn't work as well, I decided to give this a try instead of wasting money on smart TV and Xbox WiFi issues. The money spent was well worth it. All you had to do was plug it in. It is super fast now since all video devices that stream video are wired and off of the WiFi network. We have a fast, clean signal now and all waiting is over. I really like this.

Their effectiveness is simply not there
3/5

I am getting around 20MB/s from gigabit fiber, but under any sort of load (like downloading large files or playing heavy games), the speeds drop to 2MB/s About 3 Mb/s. My husband and I bought these when we turned our guest room into an office with our computers and other consoles and console games. Since ATT installed the router through the outside wall of the living room, I was not able to move it. The installation of the program was relatively easy, but I was really disappointed to see so low a speed. When I initially tried moving them, all the lights would be full green until I switched them to different outlets. The lights dropped from green to amber to red as soon as I ran a speed test, no matter what speed I ran. In practice, it doesn't work the way it is advertised. It sounds like a neat concept, but it doesn't work in practice.

This is not a good buy! Even though I think the device is desirable due to its bandwidth, its inability to turn off the standby mode or use other interface options make it entirely worthless
3/5

* * * I have been using the device for about 3 hours and have It is important for me to point out that I am an IT professional and went straight to look Many discussions have been made about this specific Netgear design choice (I cannot say flaw because it seems to have been done by Netgear on purpose), and the end result is that this product automatically switches to power saving mode when it elects to and the user has no control over.

I did not intend to comment on reviews, but after using the product and reading some negative reviews I felt compelled to do so
5/5

In general, I do not write product reviews, but after trying this product and reading an array of negative reviews, I just had to share my thoughts. Often you do not know whether the buyer properly installed the product, and a bad review was written about something they did wrong, or if there was an issue with the As far as I can tell, though, this NETGEAR Power line has lived up to all expectations. With Comcast Cable, I've had this since Feb 24, and have four kids who frequently play games online on their PS4's, as well as streaming video on NETFLIX. While that happened with WIFI, I've not experienced any lag or freezing. You can rely on the fact that I would have heard about it not working properly as I did with the WIFI. I've had no problems with it since it installed in a few minutes. Yes, it's a little bulky on the receptacle, but I have had no problems using the extra outlet. As a buyer, I do a lot of research on electronic devices to find out about their prices and I discovered this on C- after doing a fair amount of research It was rated as one of the top 2017 products by NET reviews. As soon as there are any updates, I will let you know.
