Dec. 21, 2020: It's supposed to be compatible with Windows 10, but it isn't. I failed to return it when I was supposed to - I had hoped to make it work, but I was unsuccessful. Money that was wasted!
Dec. 21, 2020: This player is not working for me. I wanted to go back in, but because there were so many good reviews, I decided to keep it and try again, but it still didn't work. Is there anything I'm missing? I'm in possession of a I had a HP with Windows 10 that normally played DVDs flawlessly, but the DVD 'door' came off and it no longer works, so I bought this. It is ineffective. The disc is inserted, and it makes a series of grinding noises before finally- nothing. It stops. Before I toss it in the trash, I'd like to say a few words about it. Do you have any recommendations?
Yes!
The following is an excerpt from page 5 of the Amicool User Manual: A word of caution: Item 3. The internal driver program determines whether or not the drive can be recognized. Almost all older operating systems have an internal driver program that can detect the CD drive without the need to install anything. Please ensure that the internal driver program is installed on your computer. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you do not yet have one. We can provide you with a link to a driver download. br>br>I'm waiting to hear back from Amicool.

It was extremely helpful because I purchased some software on DVD, but the latest Macbook with type-C has no built-in DVD player. br>I haven't used the burner feature yet because I haven't purchased the disc. br>br>I also like to use the drive to convert my CD collections to AAC format in iTunes and keep them for as long as I want. So far, everything has gone well! br>br>I'll keep you updated on how long it lasts.
I bought this drive specifically for my brand new Lenovo IdeaPad so that I could play DVDs, and I was persuaded by all of the positive reviews from here and other independent reviewers about how good this product was for the price. Even though it was a little loud and the cord was annoyingly short at first, I was pleased with it because it allowed me to watch movies and reinstall software using my disks. My laptop wouldn't detect the drive until four days ago, two months after purchase; the mechanism ran, but nothing happened. Only the ability to open and close the unit was available to me. I went around in circles troubleshooting the problem, assuming it was caused by a faulty Windows drive update. It no longer runs, and I can't even open or close it, and I've tried it on a friend's laptop. Unfortunately, the return window has closed, and I'm out $30 and a drive, which is extremely disappointing. Others should spend a little more money on a more reliable product, in my opinion. br>br>UPDATE 8/17/2020: Despite the fact that I had missed Amazon's return window, I decided to contact the manufacturer for a replacement when I discovered that there was an 18-month waiting period. They responded quickly and shipped a replacement device within two days, despite the fact that the drive had a six-month warranty. I just received the package, and the drive works fine; however, it does not appear in file explorer when I first connect it to my laptop. I have to use Device Settings or a third-party player (such as 5KPlayer) to get access to it. I'm glad it plays my movies despite the extra steps. The customer service was excellent; They had a strong desire to please. 5 stars.
I purchased this drive in order to use Turbo Tax, and it works flawlessly with no hiccups and appears to be in good working order. It's a very stylish design, and I really like it!.
I have some old data on DVD that I need to back up, but Macs no longer come with optical drives. Apple's "SuperDrive" hasn't been updated in years, and third-party drives like this one can handle everything just as well. This one has a dual USB port as an added bonus. A as well as USB- On the other end, there's a C connector. It's great because I can use it with both my old iMacs and my laptops that have USB ports. Without the use of an adapter, you can program in C. When not in use, the cable can be tucked away inside the case. I would highly recommend this product and would purchase it again. Also, if you have a Mac and are concerned about the "eject" situation, please let me know and I'll see what I can do to make it easier for you. There is an eject button on the drive. If you have a DVD or CD inserted, you must use the Finder to either throw the disk in the trash or click the eject button on the screen to eject it. Because the description wasn't entirely clear, I wanted to state here that you shouldn't be concerned.
This is what I bought to go with my MacBook. It has a USB port. C, there is no need to install it. I simply inserted a CD, and it was simple to add to my iTunes library. I'm hoping it continues to perform well.
This unit has a good price and was delivered the next day. br>I had another external drive that had stopped working, and when I plugged it into a USB 3 slot in the back of the PC, Windows 10 recognized it right away. br>On the back of the PC, there is a USB C port; I'm not sure if I'll use it. br>If you're looking for a relaxing drive, this is it.
The player already has a C adapter connected to it. My MacBook Air (2020) is only USB-C capable. This was crucial for me because I use C ports. I double-checked the USB and USB-C ports, and they're both working. The C adapters are excellent. br>br>I didn't need to install a driver because Mac comes with one built in. It wasn't in the Mac Launchpad or the utilities folder like it had been on previous MacBooks, so I had to look for it. The quickest way to find it is to use "spotlight" (the magnifying glass icon on the top right of your screen) to conduct a search. Another advantage is that the DVD tray, into which you insert your disc, pops out when you press the DVD player's button. My previous external DVD player lacked this feature, so I had to eject it either from within the app or by right-clicking on the DVD icon on my computer. This didn't always go as planned. br>br>I haven't tried burning anything to a DVD yet, but I don't do that very often these days. This DVD player, on the other hand, is ideal for my needs. br>br>When connected directly to a projector, this DVD player will not work. There is, however, an alternative. You can project your movies onto any surface if your computer is connected to your projector and your DVD player is connected to your computer. br>br>It's also worth noting that this DVD player is not compatible with other devices such as tablets or phones. It is, once again, only functional when connected to a computer. br>br>Overall, this DVD player has exceeded my expectations! It's lightweight, and the wires can be folded away for easy storage. It fulfills all of my requirements.
External DVD (R/RW) for your mobile device. The new MacBook Pro and its Desktop models are limited by the lack of a DVD/CD ROM drive. I ordered a few, but none of them have a Type C port like yours, which also has a USB Type A port. It was a fantastic product that eliminated all of the hazards I had been dealing with for the past year. br>In addition to the high quality of the product, delivery was also quick. Thank you so much for everything. br>I will always be there for you.
