It seems to fit me between a 16 and 18 jean size, so 1XL is the right size. Having said that, it would fit perfectly at 16 as an adult, it can be a bit snug, but some of you may prefer it like that. Thus, they are a form of body shaping, but not as tight as the famous brand shapers that we find in stores. They are all very confining for women, so I truly believe they are not healthy.
