It does keep rain off your face and neck when it has a large brim. It is however stiff enough not to stand out from the hat, so it doesn't do so well. There are just a few pieces strewn about. When I walked, I held up the brim of my hat to see, but then I got drenched as the rain dripped down my arm and inside of my sleeves. It is also not tight enough inside the buckle so that the headband does not stay in place. Whenever I pulled the headband to tighten it, it soon loosened through the buckle within a few minutes. I was afraid that it would blow off in the wind when it didn't stay tight. It may be necessary to add ties to the hat so that I can tie it under my chin in a Perhaps a new hat will be forthcoming!.

Hate this hat, but I love it! the hat for an upcoming trip to Ireland and hoped it would be handy to have a cute rain hat while I'm there. The end has come! There is a bit too much floppy in this. A brim that is not too long. As you can't see the buckle as well on the all black version, it doesn't look as cute as the other two versions. The product did seem well made, but mine was returned.
