I bought this for a trip and it performed brilliantly. The material is waterproof but it isn't completely dowdy. In an afternoon downpour downtown and at a moderate rain forest preserve outside of town, this hat stayed dry. I have a small head, so this hat has an adjustable drawstring at the back that worked fine for me. I only have one quibble with the product it delivers completely flat, with a crease prominently visible on the front and back. Back to you. Each photo of the product shows this. As a result, I dampened the brim, and loaded it with several heavy books overnight (front and back out of order). I found this worked well, and I could barely tell there was a crease. Steam iron will melt polyester, so I thought it would melt if I used All in all, I would say it's a very stylish top that you could easily wear at home in New York City in the rain.

The black part of the pie was smaller than expected

In addition to the black one that I want, I have two other ones that I like. But one is smaller and it does not cover my hair as much as the others. There is too little brim on it, and the size is too small.
