A 23 and 1/2 in. one I bought fits me perfectly. I found it to be the perfect fit for my head size- When I washed it in warm water, the hat shrank a bit, but it still fit.

The reviews said it worked for a lot of people because they had large circumferences. Until you buy it, you cannot be sure if it will work for you. We could not wear it because it was too small. In case your head is larger than the average, I wouldn't recommend it.

For his 7th birthday, I ordered him this for the first time since he saw a hat like this at the mall for $60+. He said it looks exactly like the one he saw in the mall, and ordered it for his birthday. If you have puffy hair on the top, you should take the size up. His older brother (17) went to try it on, and he has very high hair, so I would recommend ordering the larger size.

This is a much smaller size than I had expected

Rather than keeping me warm, I purchased this to protect my face from the sun. Neither works for me nor for them. My head isn't big or anything like that. My face is exposed due to the shallow nature of these hats, and the narrow brim of their hat is too short to shield me from the sun. My problem is with the hat, whose colors are very nice but it doesn't.
