Questions & Answers

Is this a warm jacket?

In the rainy 40-degree weather, I was nice and toasty. The temperature is in the 50 degree range. In the 30s, I think I'd be fine because it's also a windbreaker and quite long. I wouldn't wear it much after the 50s because it would be too hot.

Is this jacket warm enough to be used for snowboarding?

This is a rain jacket, so it wouldn't be warm enough to wear in the snow on its own.

Is this jacket available in a manly version?

Yup. "Carhartt men's shoreline jacket" is what you should look for on Google.

Which size should I get if I'm 6'3" and 230 lbs?

A large fits me perfectly at 6'2" and 215 lbs. I don't think I could get any smaller.

A raincoat is essential
5/5

On a trip to Scotland in September, it rained every day, so I wore this jacket. The jacket was excellent; I stayed dry the entire time, and the "interior storm cuffs with thumbhole" were annoying at first, but they saved the day. I did full-day hikes and needed a mesh lining to keep me from sweating. I'm not sure if this would work during a hot summer rainstorm because it would be too hot, but it would be ideal for the 60's. It's from the 1940s, and I'm sure it'd look great in the winter with a heavy sweater or hoodie. The only complaint I had was that it was a little too tight in my butt, but I can't really fault it for that. I simply loosened it with the two-pronged pliers. When I sat down, I sat through a two-way zipper. br>br>While this jacket isn't particularly "cute," it is certainly functional, and in bad weather, that's all that matters to me. It's something I'd purchase again.

This is the ideal raincoat
5/5

This is the raincoat I've always wished for! I literally spent hours looking for this jacket, and it finally arrived today, and it is perfect: first, I wanted a rainproof jacket; second, I wanted a jacket with a lot of pockets; and third, I wanted a jacket with a lot of pockets; and finally, I wanted a jacket that was check. After that, I wanted a heavy-duty zipper that also zips up from the bottom- check. Next, I wanted a good hood system that I could adjust to changing wind conditions by tightening or loosening the cords- check. I needed a jacket that was long enough to cover my butt- check. I was looking for a jacket that had a variety of pockets- check. I wanted a jacket that I could use for a variety of occasions, from hiking to watching movies. check. I wanted a jacket with snaps on the zipper fly instead of velcro (which gets tangled up in gloves and scarves over time)- check. I needed a jacket with plenty of room for layers- check. I wanted a jacket that would work for three seasons (I live in a rainy, windy, moderately cold climate with no major freezing or snow)- (I got the 2X and it is plenty large, almost too large for a typical size 18 to 20) I wanted a jacket that would work for three seasons (I live in a rainy, windy, moderately cold climate with no major freezing or snow) I wanted a jacket that would work for three seasons (I live in a rainy, check. It's a nice shade, not too bright but not too dark. The thumb cuff is also one of my favorites. Really, I'm overjoyed that the hunt is finally over!.

Jacket of your dreams! I ordered a black XXL (my usual size is XL)
5/5

I could have gone down to the XL, but I'm glad I went with the XXL because it allows me to wear sweatshirts. It's layered with a thick fleece. In any case, I prefer things to be a little loose. Get this coat! br>br> It is well worth the money. Because of the way it's built, I should be able to use it for a long time. What I adore: br>br> 1. br>br> ) The width and length of the arms are just right. length.
2. ) It's a perfect fit for my shoulders. I'm not restricted in any way.
3. It's a little longer in the back, so it covers my bottom.
4. It zips up and buttons up!
5. ) The fabric has a substantial feel to it. It's a canvas, but it's not stiff in the least. br>6) The hood serves a practical purpose as well. It's actually effective. It can also be removed. However, since it lays flat, I don't see why it needs to be detached.
7. ( There are pockets! Pockets in every direction!
8. ) It's dressy enough to wear to the office, but tough enough to wear on the field as well.
9. It does have thumb hole sleeves, but they aren't stiff and can easily be tucked away when not in use. They don't obstruct anything.
10. It's a raincoat, in case you didn't notice. It has a very appealing appearance. raincoat with a purpose But I believe I'll need a winter coat as well. In the winter, I'll layer it with a fleece. What I don't like about it: br>br>What I don't like about it is: br>br>What I don't like about it is: 1. br>br> ) There is none. I can't think of anything negative to say about this coat! br>br>Thank you, Carhartt, for making women's clothing! br>br>UPDATE: br>br> Now it's been three years. br>I still adore this coat and wear it almost every day in Texas during the fall, winter, and spring. Although it is not a true winter coat, it can be used as one by layering fleece underneath it. Why? Because the outside does an excellent job of not only blocking rain but also wind! Texas has more wind than any other place I've visited, and it cuts right through you. Wearing this coat, on the other hand, is a different story. That is not an issue. You maintain a comfortable temperature. br>br>I've also washed it several times (and hung it to dry each time). It's held up just as well as new (despite the lack of a dryer). Considering purchasing a different color. br>br> The green one is my favorite, but it is currently unavailable. I'll buy it if you restock!.

It's a nice jacket, but it's still a Carhartt! This is a very high-quality product
5/5

All of the items are of exceptional quality and have been meticulously designed. I'm still debating whether or not to keep the jacket. Why? Because I was smitten by a previous version of this one owned by a friend, and that previous version was made of Gore-Tex. Tex and had a fantastic luxe sheen that didn't compromise on functionality. It can be used anywhere, from the ski slopes to the fishing boat to the theater. (Being Alaskans, we know that these things can happen all at once. ) ) This fabric is noticeably "flatter" and more in line with the rougher Carhartt fabrics to be expected. br>br>However, this design is fantastic, and the execution is flawless. I ordered a large, but the size chart says 14-inch. 16 is correct, in my opinion. It's big enough for layers but not too big. The storm cuffs, numerous roomy pockets, detachable hood, long "tail" to cover butt, and complete lack of velcro (I HATE velcro) all contribute to this being a winner. It doesn't have any vents, so it won't breathe well if you're going to be very active in it, but it has a fantastic liner and is the perfect weight—not too heavy, not too light. I prefer to make my own insulating layers for warmth. br>br>All I miss is the Gore-Tex sheen. Tex, and while I'm sure it performs admirably, it lacks the same luxurious feel. feel. The exposed snaps at the top and bottom are also covered in some sort of plastic polymer material, which I'm sure is functional but. It's not nice. br>br>Overall, this is a fantastic deal. I'm not sure if I'm going to keep it or not.
