Questions & Answers

Is this going to help me get back in time? (HELLO, McFLY!) ?

Uncle Rico's time machine, on the other hand, provided me with a cheap thrill by transporting me to May 18, 1979 (don't ask).

Is there a backlight on this watch?

Today is my 34th birthday. I was surfing and apparently raving about how I needed one of these. Since I was seven years old, I've wanted one. I was green with envy because one of the slightly nerdy kids in my second-grade class had one. Every few years, I'd notice that Casio was still producing this watch, and I'd think to myself, "Wow, Casio is still making this watch." "No, there aren't enough features," says the author. " or "Electronic watches are boring," etc. " (I'm a Watch Idiot Savant, or WIS for short; I prefer mechanical watches)br>Anyway, I had a few beers last night and was raving to my wife about how I needed one of these. I'd been waiting for 27 years, and I'd had enough of it. This was a brand-new watch design at the time. It had only been three years since it had been created. Casio did not release new designs every week as it does now. So she surprised me with this today. When I look at it, it takes me back to 2nd grade in 1983, and I remember being envious of Nicholas, who had this watch and was super excited to see 'The Return of the Jedi.' br>Enough of my musings on the subject of love. You aren't reading this for that reason. (If anyone is reading this, that is.) )br>I'll be reviewing this as an electrical engineer who also owns four other Casio timepieces. I've had a lot more, but I'm down to just five right now. This watch is perfect in terms of ergonomics. Although the black resin band appears to stick to the wrist, this is not the case because Casio included cut-outs. up near the watch body, there are some rips in the strap. The band is supple and easy to work with. It doesn't do nearly as much as modern Casio digital watches. The time of day and the day of the week are displayed on the main screen. The calculator appears on the following screen. The alarm is displayed on the following screen. (There is no hourly chime because this design is so old! The following screens are Dual Time and Stopwatch. We return to the main screen after that. There was no countdown timer, moon phase, altimeter, barometer, thermometer, or even a micro-second timer. light. (Micro lights are small incandescent bulbs that were barely bright enough to read the time on the display.) ILLUMINATOR and ELECTRO-MAGNETIC LIGHTS are older than ILLUMINATOR and ELECTRO-MAGNETIC L LUMINESCENCE is a term used to describe a phenomenon that occurs when light )br>However, as a result, the screens are free of clutter. There are no strange symbols whose meanings must be looked up in the booklet. br>Take a look at how the rubber buttons protrude through the watch body in an unusual way. Don't laugh too hard; these buttons are a LOT easier to press than the ones on later Casio calculator watches. Later models needed to be more water resistant, so the keypad had to be sealed and membrane-based input devices were used. Buttons for entering text. One of these later models, a DBC-100, is the one I have. 150 It has more features, such as a nice backlight and a countdown timer (Databank Calculator, 150 telememos). The calculator buttons, on the other hand, require either a fingernail or a VERY hard press with the tip of the finger. Not the CA53W, which has proven to be a reliable companion. It only takes a simple press of the fingertip. br>The CA53W- is a high-performance, high-capacity, high-capacity In addition, unlike later Casio models, the 1 does not have a slew of buttons on the sides. The recessed metal button for 'ADJUST' is the only protruding metal button. There will be fewer buttons to catch on clothing and press by mistake. Using the numeric keypad, you can set the time. This keypad is also used to control the stopwatch. br>On the watch's face, it states boldly: 'WATER RESIST, ALARM CHRONO, WR' is the message displayed. A word or two about 'WATER RESISTANCE.' If a depth isn't specified, it means it's resistant to splashes, such as those that might occur in a light rain or from washing one's hands. It was never intended to be submerged. Others have stated that they have submerged their CA53W-based products. I could take 1 without any negative consequences, but I'm not going to take the chance. I'm going to bring my DW- 5600E G- That's a lot of responsibility. br>It's also worth noting that this calculator watch is much thinner and shorter than later models. It is literally a third of my DBC- 150 It's so light that you won't even notice you're wearing one. br>The bottom line is that this is a better watch to have than a Rolex (of which I own one) or a Movado for someone with the right kind of fashion sense. It makes a specific claim, and that claim is: "Pragmatism is very important to me." I'll admit it: I'm a total nerd. Take your edgy, blocky-styled outfit and pair it with a pair for- Ashton Kutcher, for no apparent reason- Take a long walk on a short pier while wearing a Kenneth Cole-style watch. "br>One final piece of information. The earliest year on my watch was 1980 when I set the date. Casio Calculator Watch, happy 30th birthday!

Is this timepiece still as cool as I remember it being?

Yes, it's a neat little timepiece. Because I couldn't find the hourly chime on mine, I believe there are multiple models. Please read the instructions carefully. Samantha Fury is a writer who lives in the United States.

Will this watch help me get a little closer to being a hipster?

A nerd . However, I am not a hipster (hipsters prefer vintage from the 1950s and 1960s).

It's similar to an Apple Watch, but it's not
4/5

A calculator watch has always been something I've wished for. Now that I'm approaching 30 years old, I feel like I'm an adult who can do whatever I want, and dammit, I want to buy a calculator watch. Yes, I made that statement. You aren't my mother, I assure you. Take care of it. br>br>It's fantastic. It features dual time, a stopwatch, an alarm, the date and weekday, and a FRIGGIN' CALCULATOR. You can feel your pulse if you put it on tightly enough. It's similar to an Apple Watch, except it's less than $20, comes with a three-year manufacturer's warranty, and has a five-year battery life. Doesn't send text messages, but you can type 'BOOBS,' 'BOOBIES,' 'BOOBLESS,' 'BEES,' and 'SHOE. ' It's basically the same as iMessage if you're a man of few words and your friend is standing right next to you. br>br>I took a star off because the screen appears to be lacking in contrast; I'm not sure if this is a temporary issue or if the battery is low. I'm not sure because I can't charge the battery.

This is a blast from the past! My husband is the proud owner of this completely useless watch that serves no purpose other than to adorn his wrist and remind us when it's 4 a

The Best Timepiece
5/5

This is the best watch I've ever seen. ever. There isn't any discussion about it. I've been wearing it every day since I bought it ten months ago, and every time I look down at it, it brings me immense joy. It has simple functions and is both durable and secure. I adore this watch and get a lot of compliments on it because, you know, calculator watches are the best, if not the only, thing that mankind has ever created. This magnificent timepiece comes highly recommended by me. It has gotten me through some difficult times and assists me in calculating taxes in even the most difficult of circumstances. Making it say "8008135" and showing it to my friends and family is also a lot of fun. After ten months, you'd think it'd get old, but it's still hilarious, and no one can convince me otherwise. BUY THIS WATCH if you want a high-quality, reasonably priced, and surprisingly entertaining timepiece. You won't be sorry if you do.

I'm a fairly frequent user
5/5

On my first Pacific crossing as a Captain on a B-52, I used this watch for the first time. 747- In 1989, the number of people was 400. It's crossed a lot of rivers: Teipei; Honkong; Manila; NRT; BOK; SYD; AKL; et. al. I've used it to double-check company-generated flight plans for fuel calculations. It was used to fly across the Atlantic to Heathrow and then to New Dehli. Water calculations are also used in sailplane racing, where water ballast is added. The weight of a gallon is 8 ounces. My ship is capable of transporting up to 50 gallons of liquid. I've most likely purchased 20-plus items. 30. giving them away as gifts Bands break for me after a few years, and they occasionally fall off my wrist. I'm a fairly frequent user. Now it's time to get back to sailing, so I reach down to clean the milfoil off my rudder. One leaked, but it's fine now that it's been dried out for an hour or two. That one is only used on dry land. Even after cleaning the buttons with a tooth brush, it's difficult to tell them apart. I always have two or three extras in my chest of drawers. I give it a perfect score of ten out of ten. I'm worried about the day they stop making them.

It's every bit as fantastic as you'd hoped
5/5

Casio is a brand that is synonymous with quality. What a fantastic work. I'm 33 years old, so I remember this watch being the coolest thing in the mid-80s, then fading into obscurity as something only nerds and dorks would wear. But now that it's 2017, and it's cool to be a geek again, this is so nerdy that it's hilarious. I put it on a cool NATO style strap, and it gets just as many compliments and is just as much fun to wear as my nicer, more traditional timepieces. For seventeen dollars, it's the best fashion statement you can make. It's fantastic in terms of functionality. br>br> Two time zones, a calculator, and a stopwatch However, there is no backlight. However, this is an excellent piece in general. It appeals to me.

Review of the Casio CA53W Calculator Watch
5/5

The Casio CA53W Calculator Watch is reviewed in this video. This was one of the watches that everyone wanted to have when I was in primary school in the 1980s. My parents only bought me a Casio that was at least 100 meters water resistant because I was more active in sports and swimming. After nearly 30 years, I am finally able to realize my dream, and it is a huge success. Features: br>br>
- Hours, minutes, and seconds are used to keep track of the time. The AM/PM indicator as well as the day of the week are also shown on the main screen.
- Calculator in its most basic form.
- Alarm.
- There are two time zones in this location.
- Put your watch on pause. br>br>Wishes for this timepiece:
- A display that glows in the dark.
- Waterproof to a depth of at least 50 meters. br>br>With an electroluminescent display and a water resistance of at least 50 meters, this would be the ideal watch. Aside from that, I'm very happy with this watch because it has a vintage feel to it, has a lot of features, and a very appealing and symmetrical display. Most importantly, I'm glad I have this one after learning on the Casio website that it's being phased out. A 4. 5 out of 5 stars 0 stars. br>br>UPDATE 11 JULY 2016: br>Attached are photos of the Casio CA53W Calculator Watch in comparison to a couple of less expensive Casio alternatives, the Casio W800H-A and the Casio W800H-B. Casio F105W ($12) and 1AV ($12). 1A ($13). I wish the Calculator Watch had the F105W's Electroluminescent light, which is, in my opinion, the most appealing watch light. The F105W is just a little too small for my wrist, but the Calculator Watch is just right.
