Questions & Answers

For the next 10 days, I plan to spend my days in the woods, where it may rain every day. What are the chances of staying dry with this?

There is no specific answer to this question. It will keep you dry if you are going to spend 10 days out in the woods at reasonable temperatures. It will be unlikely to keep you dry if you are going to hike in inclement weather or carrying any weight. In terms of fabric, it is extremely light, and has kept me dry even in heavy rain, yet if I was moving around or going up switchbacks with 50 lbs, it was not an issue. You will not remain dry if you wear nothing. This is what I thought- A very expensive Marmot 'all weather' jacket was the gear I carried when I hiked the AT back in 1989. Despite the gore tex, I didn't really stay dry. In fact, the gore tex barely held up to pack straps and small tears. In the right application, gore tex is a terrific material, but it will not work for In a perfect world, I would have been drier had this fabric been available, but let's be realistic, dry from rain isn't really a dry environment. Even though it was warm, occasionally, after many days in the woods, I actually preferred to be wet from rain, rather than sweat (and it did help on the comfort scale after many days there). PERSONALLY, I have made up my mind that this jacket (and BTW, the full side zip pants are the best in the industry too) is THE ONE to buy for the following reasons A few benefits of the fabric are 1) it's essentially waterproof 2) it's durable 3) it's lightweight (read that as being cooler than most older, heavier material) 4) it has pit zips, which are important. This should be helpful, I hope.

Have there been any pockets in the interior?

The pockets are only on the sides.

Do you have a small pouch for packing this jacket?

You might want to consider a smaller pouch if you have one As an extra layer of protection, it wouldn't be as light as a windbreaker, but it could probably be rolled or stuffed into a sack 12 inches across. Neither of us have any here, so I'm just estimating. They are all in stock. If it doesn't work, feel free to return it, just make sure the tags are included. I thank Tina at Pecan Tree Mercantile for your kind words.

Would the lg be an appropriate size to wear over a lg fleece jacket or should I buy the ?

It is difficult to tell if rain shells will fit your size and body type, but they tend to be made slightly larger in case you want to Layers, insulating layer, shell) If you are normally a large, I suggest ordering

It also repels water so it's great as a windbreaker
4/5

The first thing to keep in mind is that this is a simple You need to keep looking for an insulating jacket that is suitable for cold weather. The good news is if what you're looking for is something inexpensive that sheds water, breaks the wind, and breathes well, the search is over. It has rained on me a few times in Oregon, yet I've never had a drop get inside.

The fit is designed for people of average size. The chest and shoulders on mine are a little snug, but if I switch up to an XL the waist would be much too baggy, and the arms would be much It is acceptable, but if you are a weightlifter, you will not be able to wear a thick sweater or fleece under it and still be comfortable. It's hard to predict how the construction industry will turn out. At this price point, you can't expect too much, and everything works just fine. There are some details, however, that don't instill confidence. There is too much tension at the bottom of the snap As soon as I open the jacket, I expect it to tear. drawstring is too small and weak and the clasp is too small Considering that they are so fragile, I always expect them to fall off in my hands, and even if they do not, they are hard even to manipulate.

Rainy days in the Pacific Northwest are perfect for this
5/5

Please take note Since I have had rain jackets for the last 4 years, I've gone through Columbia's Watertight II (*$45) and Paradox Rain Jacket (*$40) (both from Amazon), both of which are excellent umbrellas given their quality and price. I'm exasperated. A good fit. For the length, I ordered a Large even though I'm a lanky 6'2"/170lbs. A layer underneath feels comfortable when worn on top of the torso (it is neither too tight nor too loose). There is a lot of length to the arms. I'm exasperated. A quality product. It's all well. Built-in zippers, velcro cuffs, a sturdy button clasp, and waterproofing have held up through multiple commutes and camping trips in the rain and through brush without signs of wear and tear, nor has the interior disintegrated. I have tried it on for a couple of weeks, it seems to be more durable than my other two jackets. I'm exasperated. This is design. Despite its light weight, it has no insulation properties. hood can be tucked under a tall collar of the jacket to be worn for both rain and sun here in the northwest and the pit zippers make it easy to wear for either dynamic, thanks to the pit zippers and This item can be worn all the time! The cons are I'm exasperated. The button clasp sticks when pulling apart the Velcro quickly, but it is a necessity to clasp the buttons since if left untouched, they will click together. I'm exasperated. It took some time to get used to the tall collar. I'm exasperated. As soon as the material is crumpled, it makes a noise. I think this is a great choice for a mid-range laptop Considering both the price for the rain jacket and what features and options are available if you want to upgrade from a lower-priced jacket.

It has a PitZip, a high collar, and is light weight Hood design separated from the body
5/5

Packable rainshells with GoreTex are not available. I originally wanted to find a winter jacket that was waterproof and insulated but settled on a rain proof (breathable) shell, which at least has the potential to be layered underneath. Basically, I'm looking for a product that has a high collar with a hood and that is NOT a one-piece design. You'll find it on the PreCip jacket. The collar can be zipped up all the way to your chin and cover your neck without the hood getting in the way or dragging the collar backward. Many expensive jackets have the hood directly attached to the collar, so to zip it up you need to remove the hood. There is even a possibility that the hood might drag back the collar when not in use, which is extremely It can be worn on its own if you do not intend to put the hood in place if you wish to have the collar completely zip up. Marmot's Minimalist jacket is an example of this. The pros are The PreCip jacket packs into its own pocket and is light enough to be used on a daily basis. It has a high collar and a hood that are separate. It is possible to unzip PitZip in order It can be tucked into the collar when not in use, and it has an adjustable hood. The size of the Large was perfect for me at 5'8" and medium build. A fleece under the jacket makes the jacket just right for wearing. The cons are This is not the same as GORES "TEX(Marmot Minimalist has Gore-Tex" This is text). It's Ok for me as long as I use it for what I intended. While I haven't been able to use this jacket much yet to list out more cons, it is possible to find reviews that list this down as a con.

A fantastic rain jacket that is lightweight, breathable, and has a good fit
5/5

A lightweight, relatively breathable, and waterproof rain jacket of excellent quality. We are very pleased with the addition of the pit zips. There's a battle to be waged - It has also been tested in the Acadia National Forest. like it a lot! Please note that the size guide led me to buy a Large size, but I found it too big for my use case (ie. I don't expect to wear more than two layers under it). I had to return it and pick up a Small This is the perfect fit!.

Quite a bit of time passes
4/5

I'm writing this review a little late, but for the price I think it's worth it and it's really nice and nice This jacket started to peel inside after several years of regular use (which is quite a while with a windbreaker/jacket). It still appeared to wear well, but I did not wash it often. It is generally a good brand to buy from.

It's a good jacket for the summer
4/5

This jacket has been in my closet for a few months. The height of me is 5' 9" and the weight is 155 pounds. It is best to go with medium. My life is pretty wet and windy in Seattle, so I definitely need this jacket to keep me dry. Collars can get in the way sometimes, and they can get in the way a little bit. Only that would be a problem for me.

Worked as advertised and is an excellent value for the money

Using this during a trip to Utah (who knew it would rain there? There were a few days of freakin' desert). It did not get too hot and sweaty like other jackets I have worn, and I had a good deal on it.

This is the one you need
5/5

My decision to buy this jacket was based on extensive research. In terms of both price and features, this was the best option. As a result of knowing that it would be rainy in Paris, I purchased it for the trip. Wearing it had a positive impact on me. After that, I used it a couple of times while riding my bicycle to work. Though I confess that I have not actually used the pit zippers yet, I do like that it has them.
