Yes, the ear lobes are almost completely covered by the inner lining flap. Made in Germany, this is a high-quality cap. That is all that needs to be said.
It's a male hat; I used to be a lobster fisherman, but now I live in Minnesota, where they're hard to come by.

It has a vinyl-like feel and smell to it. This hat is made up of fused triangular panels; the very top, where the panels come together in a point, is roughly fused and resembles the navel of an orange. Time will tell if it will hold up in use; I haven't had the opportunity to put the hat through its paces, but it appears to be functional if you can look past the aesthetics. The neck flap feature is one of my favorites because it helps keep the hat in place on your head. I'm basing the majority of my review on my first impressions of the hat; I'll update once it's been properly tested in typhoon conditions. Don't worry, at the rate they're springing up on this side of the globe, it won't be long.
Overall, the hat is well-made and fits the person for whom it was ordered, but the rear brim is far too short and should have been extended further, as is customary for rain hats in the Pacific Northwest. br>The brim of the hat allows and almost directs rain water to run down into the raincoat's collar, defeating the purpose of the hat.
This traditional fishing hat is very lightweight, and I love how effective it is. My only issue was determining the proper size; I guessed on the smaller side and still ended up with a slightly larger hat; I would advise others to do the same; however, it is still a fantastic hat.
The quality is poor. It's not worth the trouble because it's of poor quality and doesn't fit properly. If you can find them, go for Kaufman or Black Diamond.
The hat has a good look to it. I'm a petite woman, so I figured a medium would suffice. The product is only available in limited quantities. I should've ordered a large instead of a medium. That is why I only gave it three stars; otherwise, I would have given it five.
It feels a little big, and I have a big head, but I bought it to go for a walk in the rain. The problem is solved by wearing a thin knit cap underneath, which also keeps my balding head warm. This is an excellent product that effectively sheds rain.
Although I am confident that the hat will keep my ears (and hearing aids) dry, the front brim is not as wide as I had hoped. The hat, on the other hand, has made me very happy.
I wear it all the time and it's a great hat.
