A hat almost identical to mine landed folded over in a tiny box from another manufacturer, and I found it impossible to straighten or reshape it, despite steaming and reshaping it many times. That one was returned and I ordered this one to see if it would be delivered more quickly. That was the case. It was shipped in a box that enabled the hat to be shipped without being folded and a rigid plastic insert was placed inside the hat to prevent it from being crushed. I did not have to reshape the hat because it was perfect straight out of the box. I love the way the hat fits perfectly on my head (many hats are just a bit too tight) and the quality of the material is amazing. A flat brim and even seams on the underside are features of this hat. As I had expected, the picture is exactly the same color and scale as I anticipated. In the future, I plan to order more (There was no indication of any incentive for this sort of review.
This hat looks even better in person than it does on the picture. Though I have a big head and thick hair, my face is tight and I have a lot of facial features Neither comfortable nor convenient.
Well made, but it needs to be sized. Although the inside headband seems to be flimsier than I'm used to, it does appear to be fairly well made. Additionally, I had to stretch it a good deal with an inexpensive hat stretcher I purchased from Harbor Freight. Wet the base of the crown via a spray bottle to dampen the inside and outside of the crown piece over two weeks. Once that is done, place the stretcher into it, tighten it, and leave it for 2 days, then take it out, try it on, and repeat. It takes quite a bit of time to create real felt. This fits me well since I wear a 7 1/4. There are hard felt hats instead of floppy types like some of the costume hats. For the price, this is a pretty decent deal.
The feedback regarding this hat has been overwhelmingly positive. There are many people who ask me where I purchased this hat and I simply tell them, "Amazon. " They're all amazed at the quality of it. There should be a cost of at least $80 for this.
