As far as quality and style are concerned, this umbrella has excellent build quality, and the one time I used it before leaving it at the train stop the second time I had it, it worked well. The water runs right off right out of the box and the wind is no bother at all. I haven't tested it as an actual walking stick or cane, but I feel that it is strong enough to substitute.
