This bathing suit was a big hit with my almost 6-year-old. My daughter is a very petite child for her age, so I got the 5/6. Wearing a hat shouldn't cause your shoulders to hurt.

It's a 7/8 at 7 feet and 8 inches long and tall. I have a 5 year old and it fits perfectly! Her pants are not baggy so I think she will be able to wear them comfortably now, though there is still some room for growth, which I very much appreciated!.
