For our two, I purchased a similar hat from the Sunday Afternoons brand. I'm a five-year-old girl who absolutely adores it. I needed another for preschool, but didn't want to pay $25 for another, so I tried this one because it looked similar and was less expensive; save yourself the trouble and spend the extra $10. This hat is made of a much thinner material, has a flimsier bill, and the strap that ties around the crown of the head to keep it in place does not stay in place. I suppose the hat would work if I didn't already have a better one, but now that I know the better one is only $10 more, I'll be returning this one and buying the better one.
This is, without a doubt, the best Summer 2019 purchase. This is a fantastic hat. I bought it for my finicky preschooler, and he hasn't said anything negative about it. She spends the entire day in this hat. It's made of a light, breathable material. It's easy to clean with a wet wipe or soap and water in the sink. It dries quickly and, more importantly, it stays put throughout the day, even when swimming. At the beach, there is a lot of splashing going on. It provides excellent sun protection by completely encircling my daughter's neck and shading her face with the wide brim. Because the color is completely off, I'm deducting one star. I was hoping for a true pink bubble gum. My photos make it difficult to tell, but the color we got was much more purple in person. It reminds me of Crayola's "orchid" color, which is faded and dirty.
Although it provides excellent protection from the sun's rays, the mesh vent on the inside of the hat band is blocked, rendering it useless. The fabric is of lower quality than the Sunday afternoon hats, but that is reflected in the price. I like that the cord's safety feature is a solid loop, rather than a quick release, so my toddler doesn't pull it apart every day like he does with other hats. br>br>Overall, the hat's quality is good for the price, and I would recommend it to anyone who is on a budget, needs a spare hat, or doesn't wear a full sun hat every day.
