This is a fake toe strap, but it is not connected to anything Due to Velcro's inability to adjust, the belt is either too tight or too loose. My 8 year old appears not to be bothered by this, the red trim on the shoes are really cool. He's already received a few complements on them. Untidy. Lots of threads are loose. It appears that the shoes might fall apart in a couple weeks (since a recent review has pointed this out). The sandals are good for what they are, but not great. Shiny plastic is used for tops and straps. It's not possible to tighten or loosen the part by your toes because the "strap" by your feet does not function. Thus, as I mentioned, my 9-year-old son enjoys them, and they have lasted a month and counting, which is pretty good considering how harsh his conditions can be. Rubber soles with a nice tread provide a nice base for the shoes.
The fit to the foot is adjustable with a strap over top, a strap across the back, and elastic laces at the ankle. There are cutouts on the front as well for comfort and protection. The rear is solid over the toes for strength, and is solid over the back for protection. The quality and durability of these appear to be excellent, so I cannot speak for their durability just yet. Our experience with this purchase has been very good so far.
F Defect. The most recent update is I have written a week's worth of garbage, and now this. Velcro is supposed to stay attached for about a week. How does this happen? The original is I've been using these to lounge around in, and they are awesome.
