Would this jacket be suitable for wearing under a football jersey? My children participate in flag football and require a good rain jacket to keep them dry while on the field. ?

Probably. However, it is possible that they will become hot and bothered as a result of it. It has a mesh liner to keep the fabric off your skin, and Columbia claims it's breathable, though this is likely based on light activity. It is, however, completely waterproof.

This is an excellent match
5/5

My ten-year-old son stands about 5'6" tall and weighs about 96 pounds. I ordered a large (14/16) for him, and it fits perfectly (with some room for growth). On a scout camping trip this weekend, he'll put it to the test. The color orange is extremely vivid - precisely as he had wished! The inner mesh liner is a light blue (in the photos, it appeared to be gray).

Columbia rain jackets for petite adults are compared in this article
4/5

On a recent trip, I discovered that my rain jacket had de-hydrated. I needed to replace my rain jacket because it had been laminated and was no longer waterproof. I needed a light rain jacket that was under $50 and fit my petite frame. Both the large children's jackets and the xs women's jackets were close to my measurements, according to Columbia's size charts. Given Amazon's no-questions-asked return policy, I ordered a few to compare and try on. br>br>From most to least, here are my favorites: Columbia Big Girls' Arcadia Jacket Large ($39. 19 - This jacket was extremely well-fitting and had a mesh lining that kept it from sticking to my skin. The jacket was fastened with a snap at the top. Columbia Boys Big Watertight Jacket, Large ($38) br>br>Columbia Boys Big Watertight Jacket, Small ($38) br>br>Columbia Boys Big Watertight Jacket, Small ($38 43 - This jacket was mesh lined and had a snap at the top, but the cut was more boxy because it was a boy's jacket. The girls jacket seemed to fit my body type better. This jacket's arms are longer than the women's switchback jacket in size xs. br>br>Columbia Arcadia Ii Jacket for Women ($54). 00 - black)br>At $54, it was a little higher than my $50 limit. This had the same lining as the girls arcadia jacket, but the top of the jacket did not have a snap near the collar like the kids jackets, so I didn't keep it. Columbia Big Girls Switchback rain jacket ($30 - $60) purple)br>This was the cheapest jacket, and the quality of the construction reflected that. It didn't have the mesh lining of the other jackets, so it was more clingy on me. While this is probably a good choice if you want a small-folding jacket, it didn't feel good to wear and had a clammy plastic feel to it. br>br>Please keep in mind that this review will appear as a comment on all of the jackets that have been reviewed.

It is a hit with my son! Just before my twelve-year-old son's first Boy Scout camp, I bought this for him
5/5

out- There was going to be a lot of rain, so he chose it and loved the variety of color combinations. It took only two days to arrive. He adores this coat, as he has expressed to me and his friends numerous times. It rained all weekend, but he was completely dry on his head and body. The material is also tough enough to withstand abrasion from a heavy backpack's straps, as well as brushing up against trees and rocks. In almost every way, it's ideal. The only thing I'd change is the addition of zippers in the armpits to allow for additional ventilation when needed.

For an early teen, this is a good lightweight rain jacket that is properly sized
4/5

My 5'3" child fit perfectly in a large. (We'll most likely have to get an XL in the next year or two. ) The material is thin and light, but it is strong. It is durable enough to withstand my children's daily activities at school. The outside is water-resistant, and the inside is lined with a soft mesh that helps to keep you warm. However, because of its light weight, it's best to wear it over other layers. My son likes it because he can wear it over his sweatshirt when he goes outside during the school day. The jacket's lightweight design allows him to fold it up and store it in his locker when he's inside for classes.

This jaxket is fantastic. I bought this for my 5-year-old son to wear to school so that he could stay dry on the playground when it rained (which happens a lot). br>br>Perfect fit, with a small peak on the hood to keep his face dry, excellent quality, sturdy, and well made. He puts in a lot of effort, and it's paid off. It appears to be in perfect condition. The zipper is of excellent quality as well. It's silky smooth, which is crucial because he needs to be able to zip it up by himself. It's also quite fashionable. He adores it and especially appreciates the hood. I liked it so much that I bought him and his brother Columbia puffer coats to wear as well now that the weather is cooling down. Despite the fact that this is a rain coat, it is quite heavy. He was able to keep warm by layering it with a sweater until this week's snowfall. And it's so well-made that I'm confident it'll be a great hand-me-down. In a few years, he'll be down for his younger brother. That pleases me. br>br>I've grown to appreciate Columbia to the point where I've purchased two of their puffers, as well as a rain coat and a puffer for myself, as well as some boots.

For a boy who wears a size 6/7, XS is the ideal size
5/5

For a boy who wears a size 6/7, XS is the ideal size. My son is seven years old. This fits great with some room to grow for someone who is 5 and around 49" tall. I bought this for my younger son and a different size S Columbia jacket for my older son at the same time. I ended up switching because this one was more comfortable.

Columbia is a brand that stands for excellence
5/5

This coat was purchased for my grandson, who is six years old. In the fall, I went up a size so he could wear it with a hoodie. It's an excellent raincoat for all three seasons. It was all the way down to the mid-thigh. It's lightweight, and it's a great deal. I put it under his shoulder pads for the first time at football practice, and he practiced for two hours in the rain, and he was completely dry when he removed it. He claims that he is at ease in his surroundings. There's also a full-size hood attached. Columbia has a reputation for producing high-quality clothing. You're not going to be let down. We got the high-visibility yellow/green that firefighters and construction workers wear. On a dreary rainy day, this is a great color for the kids.
