A large is size 16/18 and an xlarge is size 18/20. I'm not sure of my 11 year old's size, but he was wearing about a 16 wearing at the time, a large is size 14/16 wearing at the time. With him being 11 and tall, I'd recommend the xl so even if it shrinks any he can still wear it if he gets it washed (if that's what you mean). I love how thick yet thin it is. It's perfect for classrooms!

The cardigan I purchased for my son is one of two that I purchased. I was quite satisfied with this purchase out of the two I made. The fabric is excellent quality and washes well in the machine (no fuzz balls or shink). There is no doubt that I will buy this brand for school again. I have only one complaint, as the buttons are difficult for my son to operate.

It was damaged when it arrived. There is a noticeable defect on the tag and it appears to have been worn. Refund is only possible if it is returned.
