PopSockets: PopGrip with Swappable Top for Phones and Tablets - Moon

You should believe what you read in the reviews. I ordered one, but it arrived scratched and messed up. I returned it and placed a new order because I understand how busy it can get during the holidays and how mistakes can happen. The new one was fine at first, but after a day or so, the top began to fall off. I can't tell you how many times I've had to re-twist it. My old popsocket has been with me for almost a year and has never done anything like this before. Just a word of caution: keep your cash in your wallet.

I bought it to replace an old pop socket that I adored and couldn't imagine not having. However, they changed the design and made it very uncomfortable, as they do with all good things. The old way: br>br> With small tabs, the faceplate is attached to the base. The "base" of the pop-out was made of a smooth, flexible material that was curved just right to fit comfortably between your fingers. The plate's tab broke off after a long period of use, but it was still functional. It was actually more comfortable without the face plate, but it wasn't quite as stable. br>br>The new look is as follows: br>Because the faceplate and popup base are both attached to a flat plate on the phone, they are not interchangeable and cannot be used without it. The real issue, however, is how unbearably uncomfortable things have become. The pop-out base isn't as smooth and flexible, and there's a rigid seam where it rests on the insides of your fingers. Because the pop socket as a whole is so rigid, stretching to click the screen's far corners causes the seam to dig into your fingers. br>This is a complete waste of money. You'll just throw it away.

After reading all of the negative reviews on Amazon, I was hesitant to place an order. I figured I'd take a chance and return it if I didn't get the real deal. It was, thankfully, genuine. The packaging, pop, and base are all identical to the one I ordered from popsocket directly. (Pictured next to each other)br>br>I used a traditional popsocket for a few years and had no problems. My first swappable top, on the other hand, lasted only three weeks before it broke. My phone fell to the ground, and the open pop hit a table, snapping it off. I'm hoping it was just a freak occurrence, so I went ahead and placed an order for a replacement. If this one fails as well, I'll post an update. However, this has led me to believe that the original, non-fictional version of the story is more accurate. The ones that can be swapped out might be a little more durable.

By removing the swappable top, PopSockets advertises this as a device that allows for wireless charging. It's great, but the PopSocket will wear out if you use it to charge your phone wirelessly on a regular basis. Mine lasted about a year and a half, with only a few hundred uses. It's not just the top that can be replaced or swapped out - The BASE is just as (if not more) prone to wear and tear. The top has less and less positive engagement as the base wears down, and it will eventually reach the point of disengagement during the day. My PopSocket top gets lost in my pocket quite frequently. Alternatively, I'll pull out my phone, which will fall to the floor with the top still in my hand; unfortunately, replacing the base is a pain, and it adds to the waste and cost of plastic.

I'm going to get one for my grandmother as soon as possible. I've been buying popsockets for years because I adore them. I bought this one because I needed a new black backed one, and I'd been wanting the moon face for a long time but couldn't find it anywhere. Needless to say, the quality is still the same as you've come to expect from a popsocket. It's strong and still works well. I deducted one star for adhesion because I'm sure I'll have the same issue as I always do with them popping off due to heavy use or me fiddling with it too much, so I'll have to superglue it back on. But aside from that, I adore it.

So, I've had a different (old school) Pop Socket on my phone for years, and it finally died, so I ordered this one (black and white moon) and was very excited to receive it. After applying it, I noticed something rattling around inside the PopTop part after a few hours, and later that day, I noticed the top was lopsided when I pulled it out. Somewhere inside, a small tab appears to have broken off. It began to tear away from the foot that fits into the base a few days later. No good- I didn't even make it three days. Grrr. br>At the very least, you can order a new PopTop part with these, which is exactly what I did. I got it (the purple and blue outer space one), and everything has been fine since then (fingers crossed).
