It adheres to the faux leather seats in my car. I brought it in to see if it would stick to the upholstery on the sofa and chairs, but it did not. However, it looks great on the dashboard. A box of Kleenex and the case for my reading glasses are the only things in the room that don't move. Even on switchback roads in the mountains.
The majority of automobiles, after all, have carpeted floors. I haven't tried it, but I doubt it will stick to carpet the way it does to the dashboard, and I believe the weight of a drink would fall off the mat, either on the floor or on the dash. It's a little sticky, but it's designed for phones, keys, and other small items that aren't too vertical. If you only need a cup holder for drinks, you should look for an attachable cup holder. It's definitely not sticky enough to hold your carpets down; it's meant to go on your dashboard to hold things like your keys or sunglasses, and it does get a little mushy in the heat. I don't recommend this particular pad for the things you're looking for it to do. For the carpets, use velcro and maybe super glue it down, keeping it extra tight like the sides of the velcro strips and stick them on the floor and on the top of your car mat and when you go to sell it, it'll peel off just give it a little hot with a hair dryer if you want it for your dashboard, get one like it but not this specific one because it's really sticky and gross and cat hair and everything else sticks to it too it's just not a good texture
Mine is fantastic, and I've never had a residue issue with it. I do, however, give it a soapy bath every now and then, rinse it, and dry it before using it again.

Ew. What a letdown!.
In August of 2018, I bought two of these mats. At first, I was pleased with them; I believe this was due to the fact that the weather began to cool in the following months. It worked perfectly during the winter, but when the weather began to warm up again in April, I noticed that my sunshades were becoming sticky. When I first started looking into it, I noticed that the mat was starting to melt around the edges. It was very sticky and messy when I took it off my dash. It made my dash so sticky that I had to clean it with a towel and rubbing alcohol. I live in South Carolina, where we have to deal with extreme heat in the spring and summer. This product may be suitable for use in the western United States. I wouldn't recommend it for the southern parts of the United States or Canada. or any other location where extreme heat is required.
It's a bit tacky, but it holds things in place nicely. The main issue is that it will melt when exposed to direct sunlight. Physically, it has melted in the corners, and touching it causes a black goo to splatter all over the place. It's a bummer that it can't handle temperatures above 90 degrees Fahrenheit.
I bought this mat expecting it to have a good grip for things like cell phones, but the material isn't what I was expecting. It has a jelly-like texture to it. like a material, made in China, out of who knows what. I wouldn't trust it enough to put it on a luxury car's dashboard because I'm afraid it'll leave oil or residue behind. This reminds me of those small children's toys with a small jelly hand at the end of a long jelly string that you can fling at things to make the little hand stick; I imagine it will collect dirt, dust, and lint like crazy. I find it too sticky. It's returning to its previous position.
I only had it on my dash for a few days to test it out before removing it because I suspected it was emitting strong fumes from some strange chemical. It left a stain on the leather dash that was precisely the same shape as the mat! It stayed there for about two weeks before blending in with all of the cleaning and leather conditioning efforts. The dash on my car was dark gray leather. If you're trying to hide something, I suppose this won't hurt, but if you leave it long enough, you'll get a mark.
The matt has a great deal of clinginess to it. It works well for me to keep my phone on top of the dashboard. The phone is completely stationary. The surface, on the other hand, feels sticky to the touch. It looks almost like tape, which makes me wonder how well it will hold up to dust; I can see it becoming a dust magnet. But I'm going to keep it, and if it starts to get dusty, I'll peel it off and wash it down with water. Perhaps that will be of assistance.
I only gave this product one star because its application is inconvenient. When I tried to remove it from the plastic covers, one side was so sticky that it ripped. You can't test fit it in a vehicle and then change its location for this reason alone. It doesn't matter if you put the pad in the freezer before attempting to remove it; it will still stick and stretch as you attempt to remove it. br>I bought it to take on vacation and use as my GPS in a rental car. That's something I've changed my mind about! br>On the plus side, it will stick if you know exactly where you want it to go and the surface is clean - Just don't try to take it away - ever!.
Leaving in the car is not a good idea. Be aware that this item cannot be returned or refunded. br>br>It's definitely sticky, but you'd have to be brave or not care about your car to leave it on your dash board. In my car, I wouldn't even try it. It'll either melt or leave a sticky residue behind. I'm reminded of kids' slime or sticky hands toys when I look at this material.
