This is the first time I've used a horsehair shaving brush. and it's a fantastic one! Horse hair brush is said to be a hybrid of badger and boar hair. More often than not, I find myself disagreeing. It's a personal decision for me. Regardless, this is a fantastic brush. br>br> The bristles are extremely soft, but not nearly as thick as those of a badger or a boar. That is to say, these bristles are more brittle than the others. This isn't meant to be a slap in the face to the brush. Rather, you'll need to build your lather in a different way than those brushes (think painting instead of hard swirling). br>br>This brush has a lighter heft than the others I own. This, I believe, is due to the bristles' and the acrylic handle's light weight. While the weight of the brush may take some getting used to, it is well balanced and produces a powerful lather. br>br>On the first couple of shaves, the smell was quite strong, but it faded with proper conditioning and continued use. The bristles are the only concern I have. br>br> While this brush has helped me with hair loss, the hair is more brittle than badger or boar, so I'm not sure how long I'll be able to use it. But, so far, it hasn't been a problem. In fact, it's starting to become my go-to brush. br>br>At around $30, it's well worth a try.

Brushwork is very nice. The price is reasonable. The lower section of the handle was a pleasant surprise, as it is clear rein with white swirls, which I had not anticipated, but it is quite attractive and appealing. Because it works well and I enjoy using it, I don't see why anyone would want to spend hundreds of dollars on it.

I was taken aback by the size of the brush when I received it. I expressed my disappointment that the brush's size was not accurately described in the original description. The brush's description appears to have been updated, with detailed dimensions now included. This was my first brush made of horsehair. It's softer than a boar brush but tougher than a badger brush. It can be used with both hard soaps and soft creams because of this. Despite its diminutive size, this brush produces a fantastic lather. Despite its size, I was so taken with it that I ordered the Vie Long 13071, one of its bigger siblings. Both brushes are excellent and attractive additions to my shaving collection.

As advertised, the hair was not "colored" to resemble badger hair. There's something I'd like to say. This isn't your typical "special" hair mix, according to the description. instead of pure horse hair, though there's no guarantee it'd be colored differently. Also, it's not exactly soft. The hair appears to be boar's. Hopefully, the seller will contact you to offer a credit or other form of compensation for the false advertising. This is most likely a knockoff - beware.
