It's Badger hair, and it's a lovely brush. I've been using it every day for a couple of years, and it's still in great shape.
Soft shaving cream is included in the bowl that comes with this. I take my brush and get some lather out of it, and I use one of my shaving bowls to do so.
If that's what you're talking about, the cream isn't wrapped in shrink wrap. A freshener seal is included, as well as a screw on top.
It is, in fact, a medium. Don't get the impression that this is a small brush; it is a great size, and I am very pleased with it. I've never had the desire to replace it because it works so well for me. When you consider that you also get a regular tub of Taylor of Old Bond Street sandalwood shaving cream, this is an excellent value.

After a fair amount of angst over my $14. I started reading and learning more after receiving my 95 brush/cup/soap combination. However, I discovered a wide range of viewpoints out there, and many of the reviews began to resemble a 'Ford v Chevy' battle. As a result, I decided to host my own Pepsi Challenge. Rather than risking $50-$100 on a game of chance, Instead of spending $100 on a brush I wasn't sure about, I spent $150 on four different hair quality (Synthetic/Pure/Best/Silvertip) brushes from four different manufacturers, plus the shaving cream that came with the brush. After reading a lot of different shave brush reviews and information, I also thought there was a chance this was a Rooney for Taylor Of Old Bond Street brush! br>br>So, here are the results I've obtained with this. The bristles are soft to begin with. I compared it to Parker's Silvertip Badger, which is softer. Second, the brush is smaller than the Parker Silvertip and the Jagger Best I compared it to, being slightly shorter and with a narrower 'fan. ' However, the knot's fiber density is higher than the Best and almost equal to the Silvertip. The brush creates a lot of lather and can easily be used to do multiple passes on the face. I shave my head and have a goatee, and one brush load was sufficient for a full shave with plenty left over. Last but not least, the shaving cream is fantastic! For lack of a more masculine name, the quality is luxurious. The sandalwood does not have a dank, heavy, incense-like aroma. Instead, it smells like a barbershop with a hint of sandalwood. It has a pleasant scent, but it is not the heavy, smoky sandalwood of incense. So, if that's what you're looking for, be aware. That said, the cream is fantastic; it significantly reduces friction, hydrates and softens your skin, and it lasts well beyond a shower. I shaved before showering, and a few hours later, I could still smell the cream on me, and my skin feels great! br>br>In conclusion, great product, and I think the combination of the cream's awesome lathering ability and the brush's quality nicely offsets any concerns about the brush's size that anyone might have, especially at this price! When I need more cream, I'll probably order this again because the price of a tub alone is around $15, so it's more cost effective to get the brush because a brush of this quality would easily cost $25. And, of course, if it's a Rooney. 'Fuggedaboudit!' says the narrator.
In any case, I was interested in trying TOBS shave soap. This set is exactly what I was looking for, and I'm glad I got it. The soap is, without a doubt, the best I've ever used. The scent was wonderful. But it was the performance that was most important. It has a fantastic lather. Very smooth, and by far the most comfortable shave I've ever had. There aren't many hairs left on the brush. It splays nicely while still maintaining its shape. I'm definitely going to order more TOBS shaving soap. Remember, scents are a matter of personal preference, so your mileage may vary. This gift set, on the other hand, is something you should consider purchasing.
Very good price! a fantastic product! br>Well, there's no denying that Taylor of Old Bond Street/ Sandalwood soap is one of the best products on the market. br>My suggestion is for the badger brush that comes with the game. It requires some sort of acclimation, which can be accomplished by using it three times. 4 times with less-than-desired foam, but it works like a charm for me after that. It's become a go-to brush for me. br>To all of you, I say thank you.
For the past 30 years, I've shaved. Over the years, I've experimented with various razors and foams, but I've always ended up with the same results - I added this set to my Christmas wish list, feeling a little nostalgic after a "meh" shave. br>br>Christmas day arrived, and I had my first brush and soap shave. What a stark contrast! It took some getting used to, but I discovered that shaving with soap and brush gets me much closer to a shave than shaving with the same razor and a can of foam. I used to use a lot of soap in the brush, but as time has gone on, I've discovered that I only need a small amount to get a good "real" lather. The scent is also appealing to me. br>br>My next step will be to purchase a brush stand so that it can dry properly, but I still enjoy shaving with this tried and true method.
I was looking for a product that would give me a closer, smoother shave, and boy did I find it. With just a small dab of the brush, enough lather will be created to cover the entire face. It simply feels good to touch my face hours later! It also has a pleasant scent. The brush is comfortable to hold and use.
When I was about 7, my grandfather taught me how to save using a brush and soap. I had an old brush that I'd worn out from an old soap bar that I could get at any drug store. None of those apply to this brush and soap. For the price, this is a fantastic set. Although the brush's hairs could be a little finer and thicker, I still give it a five-star rating. It's impossible to praise the cream highly enough. I really like the scent; it's exactly what I was looking for. There's no fruity smell at all, and it's not overpowering. For a truly great shaving experience, it works up a fantastic lather. With this set, you really can't go wrong.
This brush and shave cream set is ideal for anyone in the market for a brush and shave cream. When you use the shave cream, it has a strong scent. However, once you've shaved and rinsed your face, the scent isn't overpowering. I've had this set for a few months and the brush is still going strong. I've only noticed about 6 hairs coming out of the brush, and the majority of them happened in the first week. You can't go wrong with this brush and shave cream set if you're looking for a high-quality set at an unbelievable price.
