I'm a 68-year-old woman who has been washing her face with a shaving brush for a long time. It was time for a replacement, one made entirely of wood rather than plastic. I did my research and learned about the inhumane manner in which natural bristles are harvested from animals, and I decided I would not support this practice by purchasing synthetic bristles instead. When I came across the Taconic shave brush, I decided to give it a shot. I am extremely pleased with my purchase. Well-made, lathers well without being too heavy, and rinses easily. This is something I'll buy again in the future.
This is my first time purchasing and using a synthetic shaving brush. So far, I'm enjoying it a lot. Others have complained that it is too heavy. I don't believe so, but you must make your own decision. The shaving soap is not sucked up by this brush. It produces a pleasant lather. It does come with a stand, but the only drawback is that it didn't fit on my razor stand, which isn't a big deal because it comes with one.
After 3 days of use, the brush came apart at the bristle/metal band and wooden handle join. I'm guessing the glue wasn't properly applied. During the usage, only shower-warm water was used. I was able to get a refund after returning the brush to Amazon. Perhaps it was just the luck of the draw for me. br>br>When it worked, the brush was excellent, and I wasn't yet accustomed to the brush's bulky handle/weight, but that would have been fine after a few days of use.
Bristles are a type of hair that is found on animals. Easily produce a large volume of lather and hold it in placebr>Handle - It's in great shape and size (I haven't dropped it since I bought it, which is almost miraculous), and it's well-balanced. I don't think it's "too heavy," as some critics claim, but that's a matter of personal taste. Overall, this is a fantastic wet shaving tool.
This brush would benefit from some checkering on the wood to make it easier to handle while in use. If you use a lathering soap with a good fat content,. It'll squirt out of your grasp in no time. br>I'm a buff shaver, and because I shave by quadrants, I don't like having to reach for the alum block every time I want to move on to the next area.
After having a Casswell Massey brush that lasted nearly 40 years, I've been on the lookout for a good brush. br>br>Once again, this brush was a letdown. It doesn't hold lather well and doesn't shave well.
Doesn't hold a lot of shaving soap lather.
