I have no idea, because it was my first and worst brush. br>br>Even before I knew anything about brushes (aside from the fact that badger hair is amazing), I knew I was going to hate it when I got it. It had to be the cheapest badger knot there is, as it splayed awkwardly and heavily to one side. br>br>Since then, I've replaced the original knot with a synthetic one, which I've removed and thrown away. (As a result, I am unable to respond to your query.) br>br>For the money, a West Coast Shaving "Beacon" brush is a good choice. (The badger knot on the latter is excellent value for money.)

I've had this brush for quite some time and am quite pleased with it. It was purchased to replace one that I had previously purchased from Art of Shaving. This brush is far superior to the AOS brush in terms of quality of construction. It retains bristles well, despite the fact that there were bristles all over the place when I unpacked it. I was worried that it would lose them like the AOS brush did, but once I cleaned it, the stray hairs vanished. Since I first cleaned it, I haven't seen any loss, which is a huge accomplishment. The handle is both elegant and substantial. It has the feel of a brush that is twice or three times as expensive. I will say that it does not feel as soft as Badger hair, leading me to believe that it is boar hair. The bristles are thick and coarse, not as soft as those on the AOS brush. I would, however, buy this one again without a second thought. Quality construction is just as important as quality materials, but after losing half a brush due to consistent bristle loss, I'll have to live with the inaccurate description (I don't believe it's genuine badger).
I have never owned a better brush.
This smells like a rotting, decaying dead animal (I'm not kidding - it smells like that). It has a distinct odor of a dead animal). It's as if someone snatched a piece of road-kill. Killing and removing the hair to make a shaving brush I followed the directions to the letter, even washing the brush before using it - no help. I soaked it in soap for 24 hours - 3 x - no help. I put it in vinegar and soaked it for a while. I gave it a light dusting of baking soda - no help. The smell was not hidden even when I used it to lather up some fragrant smelling shaving soap. br>UPDATE: This is a bad product. br> Okay - The dead animal odor faded after five weeks of use, and it's now fine.
It had a silver tip and was attractive, but the bristles began to fall out, and I did not want to spend a lot of money to replace them. As a result, I purchased it. I can live with the brush being a little smaller than expected. It lathers up nicely, but it has a strong odor when wet, which I hope isn't a long-term issue. Due to the offensive odor, I will not purchase again. Update: I've been using this brush for about a week and the odor has gone away. There is no longer a problem, and the brush is holding up well with no bristles falling out.
Please return the item.
This brush creates a lovely lather.
I'm a big fan of "wet shaving" and collect it all. " I really like this badger brush. It has a nice weight. Makes a thick, luxurious lather. By far the best brush I've ever used.
It was painful for me to watch it fade away. (By the way, I'd dropped it a LOT of times before, so it was pretty tough!).
