Questions & Answers
Before using this color, you must first lighten dark hair to a level 8 or higher. It won't automatically lighten dark hair.
Very,. I add about a 1/4 cup of conditioner to it and simply apply it to my clean, dry hair, cover it with a plastic grocery bag and pin it with a clothespin (to keep it from getting on anything) and leave it on for 45 minutes to an hour. Rinse with cool water, pat dry, and style as desired. Mine gradually fades over the course of two months, becoming a little lighter with each wash. When you wash your hair with cool water, it lasts much longer and you don't get the growth line that you get with regular hair dyes. Before you use it, you must lighten your hair to a blonde color. I don't need to do that because my hair has naturally turned grey.
It gives it a more steel gray hue, in my opinion.
A larger container of the product (approximately 5 oz.) is available.

I've been a pravana purist since I first started using the vivids line; other dyes simply don't provide the same level of coverage, staying power, or graceful fade out. br>br>However, silver is difficult to obtain due to the requirement of a level 10 base. (Also known as platinum blonde. ) ) I know some people use the dye as a toner, but to be safe, I'd recommend toning first, so your base is cool toned to begin with and no gold or yellow shows through. br>br>Even porosity is important (which I don't have), because otherwise the risk of patchy color (which I got, but my base wasn't even that good to begin with) is much higher. There are filler/protein treatments you can do prior to dying to help with this. br>br>Depending on your base, the color is either a very purpley steel or a bluish steel when undiluted. Out of the tube, the dye appears to be more purple. My hair is more bluish than usual, but that's fine with me, and it's also because I used blue food coloring to try to tone down some brass that remained, which you should not do. br>br>Dilution with (only silicone-free! br>br> ) white conditioner will give you a lighter silvery tone with less of a tint. (For the record, garnier, tresseme, and suave all have silicone-free conditioners that are reasonably priced. )br>br>TLDR;
- With super super light blonde hair that is all the same shade and has even porosity, you'll get the best results.
- When applied directly, a darker steel is used, and when diluted, a lighter silver is used. If you use a silicone-free conditioner, the color will not apply evenly.
- Heat is also detrimental because it accelerates the fading of the material. Rinse with cold water, lower the temperature on your straightener, use a good heat protectant, color-safe shampoo, and condition.
- Color depositing shampoo is available to extend the life of your color, and punky color recently released a silver shampoo. br>br>*phew* I hope that was useful.
This is something I really enjoy. I was tired of dying my white hair every 3 to 4 weeks because I had so much of it. Because this product bleeds slowly and has no growth line, I only have to dye my hair every two months. I applied it after mixing it with a little conditioner and letting it sit for about 45 minutes. My hair starts out dark gray and gradually fades to a lighter gray shade that matches my natural hair color perfectly. I'm very pleased.
Unless you're looking for a super dark blue, that is. if you have grey hair, dilute it. The tiniest amount of dye can achieve the greatest amount of results. To keep up with my silver hair, I mixed it into my conditioner and used it every time I washed it. Over any toner or dye, I would strongly recommend this product. I tried everything, and this was the one thing that really helped me achieve a nice silver color.
It's more of a blue dye toner (yes, I bought silver). I'm going to a different brand of product. br>I completely understand why this product causes people's hair to turn blue; it's extremely concentrated. I only needed a portion of a tube because my hair reaches my waist. Approximately 1: The dye to conditioner ratio is 10:1. Apply it to dry hair and leave it in for no more than a few minutes! It begins to turn blue after 5 minutes. If you leave the blue in for too long, it will fade to a lovely silver, so don't be concerned. Level 9- 10 will opt for a white silver, while darker blondes will opt for a smokey look. I bought two tubes and use them as needed in my conditioner. If you have long hair like mine and don't want to risk blue casting, do half of your hair first and then rinse it out.
I'm glad I held off on reviewing for a while. Despite the fact that I was pleased with the initial results and received numerous compliments, I doubt I will use it again. I mixed this with a lot of white conditioner because I wanted a pale silver, and most of my hair turned out perfect except for the ends, which still grabbed a lot of the purple base, and the roots (which I didn't expect much from because I had about half an inch of brown roots in the back where my natural hair wasn't yet graying), but it was still quite cute, and I planned on trying again after my retouch butttttttttttttttt This could just be how my hair reacts, so if you're willing to experiment and give it a shot, I say go for it. It's beautiful, just not for me.
You must bleach and tone your hair to a platinum level of nine or ten. It has a slight green undertone, but I've been able to keep the green at bay using purple shampoo. In terms of staying power, this brand's silver color outperforms others I've tried in the same color. When shampooing, I noticed no bleeding onto my pillowcase and only minor color washout. The photo of me with my hair up was taken shortly after I colored it, and the photo of me with my hair down was taken two months later.
I've been doing gray/silver for months, and I think this Pravana Silver is one of the best; my hair was slightly unevenly bleached, so the ends were a little blue at first, but they quickly lightened. To dye my hair, I only used about 25% of the tube. I'll continue to use this product to maintain my vibrant hair color.
This color has remained consistent for over a month! washed every two weeks Purple shampoo was used for four days. I'm a big fan of what you've done so far. For great coverage, I mixed it 50/50 with conditioner and applied one tube to waist-length hair.
