Many chemicals found in hair dyes and other hair products cause me to have an allergic reaction. I did a lot of research on Henna and tried to stay away from companies that didn't use all natural ingredients and instead added harmful chemicals. I chose The Henna Guys because they claimed there were no additives, it was dated for freshness, and it came in a double-packaged foil bag. I bought the dark brown kit, which has a two-step application process to get the best results. I combined half water and half lemon/vinegar/red wine mixture separately. I wrapped it in cling wrap and left it on the counter overnight. I used Pure Henna 1st the next day and left it on for 3 1/2 hours. It turned my hair into a bright orange/red color like I Love Lucy's. I was debating whether or not to keep it like this! I decided to put the Dark Brown mix in the fridge overnight before applying it the next morning. I didn't want a completely dark brown look, but rather something in the middle with a highlight effect, so I braided my hair into sections before applying the dark brown. I left it on for two and a half hours. It rinsed out thoroughly both times, and there was no more bleeding after that. I rinsed with conditioner again, but there was no color rinsing out this time. In addition, there are no stains on the pillows. I'm overjoyed that, unlike dyes, I don't have any scalp irritation. Even with just the first application, it completely covered grays. This Henna is one of my favorites, as are those around me. Excellent product; my sister has placed an order as well.

I was thinking about changing my hair color, but I didn't want to use chemicals because I didn't want to damage my hair. I also wanted to try a red color, but because my hair is such a dark shade of brown, I knew it would require bleach. So, on a whim, I decided to try out this henna dye for the first time because the reviews were all positive!br>br>I made a strange concoction—I mixed the red-brown henna dye with the black-brown henna dye. 2- 1 lemon's worth of freshly squeezed lemon juice and orange henna powder 3 TBSP honey (to help lighten my hair naturally), approximately 1. 1 cup warm distilled water (as directed on the package) and 5 tablespoons olive oil (for softness). Even after stirring, it seemed clumpy, so I wrapped it in plastic wrap and set it aside for about 15 hours, and it turned out to be a smooth pudding. When I was ready to use it, I liked the consistency! br>br>Now, I was expecting a slightly redder hair color because I read that henna tints hair color (the lighter your hair, the more vibrant the color). I was blown away by the results after letting it sit on my hair for 4 hours under a shower cap—my naturally dark brown hair has turned copper and feels softer than it has in a long time! I was completely blown away. br>br>Hooray for natural alternatives, even if my hair looked like it was covered in baby poop while I waited for the dye to take effect! Because it was yellow-themed, I gave it four stars. Every time I shower, orange water still drips from my hair. br>br>Unfortunately, I forgot to take a "before" picture before trying it out, so this is a selfie I sent to my parents in December after getting a haircut, haha. However, because there was no hair dye in it, I thought it would be a good opportunity to show off my natural color. br>br>It goes without saying that I will definitely try this again!.

Following the birth of your child My hair's warm copper color faded as I grew older. My hair looked great after using this henna. It's back to the warm copper it used to be when I was younger! I'll be a loyal customer for the rest of my life!.

I'd heard good things about LUSH's henna bars, and I like their stuff in general, but I'm glad I did my homework and checked Amazon first! I bought a packet of Mahogany-colored henna but only used one. For my lovely, mid-twentieth-century home, I'd like I'd do at least one if I had back-length hair. br>br>MIXING: Next time, use 5 packets. br>br> br>I began with shampooed hair. I mixed 1 packet of henna powder with warm hibiscus tea I had steeped earlier in a large mixing bowl as soon as I received the henna packets. (If you're unfamiliar with hibiscus tea, it's a deep burgundy color that I used to bring out more red tones. ) )br>br>I continued to mix with a wooden spoon, adding a few generous dollops of honey to add moisture. The mixture was very thick at this point, so I kept adding tea (while constantly mixing) until it reached the consistency of pudding or thick cake batter. After that, I wrapped the bowl in plastic wrap and set it on my kitchen counter for about 4 hours. br>br>PREPARATION: br>After about 4 hours, I re-mixed it with the same wooden spoon because it had separated a little, making sure to get all the bits on the bowl's sides. I was already dressed in a baggy t-shirt and sweatpants, and I had newspaper all over my bathroom floor. Apply Vaseline to your hairline (as well as your ears!). ) or your skin may become stained with henna. br>br>While the henna packets include a pair of plastic gloves and a shower cap, I recommend using smaller latex gloves unless you have large hands. I used the ones that came with them and found it difficult to apply the henna because the gloves' "fingers" were far too long for me. Hair ties were used to keep the wrists from slipping off. I also bought hair dye brushes, which I highly recommend for getting the henna on your roots. br>br>APPLICATION: br>br>APPLICATION: br>br>APPLICATION: br>I chose to use the henna in my bathroom, with the bowl propped up against my sink. I worked in sections, pulling the hair away from my head and "painting" the roots of each section with the dye brush, then simply working the henna down to the ends with my (gloved) hands. I twisted the section and formed a tiny bun at the scalp once it was sufficiently covered. The henna should have enough stickiness to stay on its own. I simply repeated the process with each new section of hair until all of it was covered. br>br>It's important to keep the henna warm in some way. Mine became cold, making working with it more difficult. Also, prepare a little more than you think you'll require. You can always use the extra to reinforce your little buns (lol) or simply apply it to your entire scalp. br>br>THE EXTREMELY EXTREMELY EXTREMELY EXTREMELY EXTREMELY E br>After applying the makeup (which took about 45 minutes because I fumbled a lot), I removed my now-disappearing hat. I wore filthy gloves, wrapped my entire head in plastic wrap, and finished it off with a shower cap. Then I proceeded to clean up the massive mess I had created! Thankfully, the henna did not stain my bathroom (including the white sink), and any dripped henna was easy to clean up, even the dried bits. br>br>I left the henna on for about 6 hours and then washed it off. Don't forget to use dark colored towels to completely cover your pillow, bed, and everything! (Especially if you're one of those people who tosses and turns at night!) )br>br>CLEANING IT UP: br>I'm not going to lie to you. It was terrifying to wash this stuff out, but I have a handheld showerhead that made it a lot easier and less messy. free! br>br>I basically knelt outside of my bathtub, head and hair inside, and rinsed out the henna with COLD water for a long time. I read somewhere that instead of scrubbing, you should gently lift the henna off the scalp with your fingers. Spend extra time on the back of the hairline (nape) and around the ears! To help get it all out and replenish some of my hair's moisture, I used conditioner. I used a dark towel to gently towel dry once the water was mostly clear and no henna debris was visible. br>br>After washing, my hair felt a little dry, but that's normal! It also had a strong henna scent. Something along the lines of tea leaves and grass, perhaps? I rinsed the next day with cold water and shampooed the next day. RESULTS: br>br> br>Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa I chose Mahogany because I didn't want a drastic color change in case my hair didn't respond well. Now I'm wishing I'd gone with a red! My hair has never looked or felt so good. It was in good condition prior to the henna, but it now feels fantastic. Is it super soft, lustrous, and almost thicker in texture? And then there's the color. In low light, it appears to be my natural color (dark brown), if not slightly darker. But what about in the sun? A beautiful red tint to the brown. br>br>I've had my hair dyed for more than a week and it's still looking great. I haven't had to cover my (white!) bed or pillows at all since the first few nights. I've noticed that some color is still washing out in the shower, but my towels haven't been stained. The henna small was mostly washed out after about 5 days, but I can still smell it whenever I wet my hair (but only while it's wet). Would I do it again? br>br>Would I recommend it? Yes, absolutely! But maybe next time in a brighter shade. It was simple to use and worked well. I'm not sure how well it works if you follow the package directions, but I mixed it with enough water to make a thick pudding consistency, covered it with plastic wrap, and left it out on the counter for 24 hours. I left it in my hair for about 4 hours; the mud smelled pretty bad at first, but after washing it out, my hair smelled nice, like dried leaves.
