This only includes the pieces that attach the car seat to the stroller on the sides. For $399, you can get the stroller on its own.
Yes, and it's a perfect match.
Selected User Reviews For UPPAbaby MINU Adapter for Maxi-COSI, Nuna and Cybex
While they are simple to attach, they must be removed before your stroller can be collapsed. This is extremely inconvenient and ineffective. The whole point of using it with the car seat is to have a quick, light "snap and go" stroller. I wish Uppababy had considered this!.
This was purchased for our Minu, which is a companion stroller to our main stroller, an Uppababy Vistabr>br>My wife and I were debating between the Minu and the Babyzen Yoyo, and one sticking point for us was that while our 7-month-old might soon outgrow his Uppababy Mesa carseat, after living with the Yoyo for about a week, we were missing the ability to attach it directly to the stroller for short er We eventually returned the Yoyo to Nordstrom and purchased the Minu as well as these adapters. br>br>To cut a long story short, these do exactly what they're supposed to do, and they hold the carseat as well as the Vista's built-in attachment points. The adapters are made of tough plastic and have tabs that interlock with the purpose-built adapters. The Minu has metal clasp hardware as well as made attachment points. To firmly attach to the Minu, they use an interlocking plastic tab system, a first friction fitment, and a metal latch. br>br>Here are some key takeaways from our research and applications:
- While the adapter kit includes a hand storage bag that stows on the stroller and does not obstruct folding, the bag is made of lightweight nylon, attaches with velcro loops, and closes with a metal clasp in the center of the opening. They only fit the adapters in lengthwise, which can be difficult because when the Minu is unfolded, the bag hangs just above the front of the basket area. Once the stroller is folded, it's easier to put the adapters in the bag, but you'll need to find a place to keep them for a second while you fold - It's not perfect, but it's not a deal breaker.
- With these adapters attached, you won't be able to fold the Minu - After a couple of uses, however, it's not difficult to take them off. Because the adapters are color-coded for each side of the stroller, getting it right the first time is a breeze. br>- The toddler seat is always removed in the official literature and videos about this adapter. In our experience, this isn't necessary, and with the Mesa carseat, lowering the seat to clear the foot of the car seat is enough to get a good lock onto the adapters.
- The Minu canopy along with the Mesa canopy provide nearly 100% coverage over the baby - when the carseat is in place. Although it is not completely waterproof, it provides adequate sun protection. br>br>Overall, the Minu is the best compromise between portability and capability for our family thanks to these adapters. We've gotten the Minu to fit in all of the overhead bins on Southwest, American, and Alaska/Virgin America flights we've taken with it (as a babyzen Yoyo would), still allows us to plug a carseat into it, and gives us a stroller with a 50lb capacity (vs. the Vista's 30lb capacity). a Babyzen Yoyo with a weight capacity of 40 lbs. which may or may not be important if our little one gets out of the stroller early, but the extra runway to use the minu is nice).
Although the instructions are unclear, these adapters allow you to use the Mesa while the Minu's toddler seat is in place. To make room for the Mesa, you simply need to recline the toddler seat slightly. If you have two children, you can quickly switch between using it for a newborn and a toddler. br>br>The only drawback with them is that they can't be folded with the Mesa adapters installed (like the Vista can't be folded with the Rumble seat adapters installed). It's not difficult to take them out in order to fold the stroller.
It ought to be less expensive. Quick summary: It works! br>br>Rant: br>br> (1) There is no reason for these to be so expensive. It's made of rubber. It's likely that the actual cost is $1. 50- (2) I wish the car seat could be slid onto this adapter more easily. It's difficult to use because the adapter is at an angle. There appears to be a lot of room for improvement in the design.
If you read the reviews, you'll notice that there are a lot of them. You're well aware that you won't be able to fold the stroller while they're attached. If you can get past that, they're pretty good. br>br>If you can get past that, they're pretty good. br>br>It's actually not that difficult to put them on and off each time, and it's nice that UppaBaby included a bag that's supposed to be strapped somewhere on the frame to keep the adapters close at hand. br>br>We liked that the car seat is a little higher and closer to mom than the Babyzen Yoyo. It also leaves a small gap between the car seat and the stroller seat, allowing you to use it as an additional stroller. It's certainly stable enough to be taken outside. br>br> My wife's first experience with it was at the local zoo, where she was impressed by its stability and ability to handle a variety of terrains compared to the Babyzen. Overall, it was worthwhile. br>br> The price difference between the maxi cosi and the mesa was the second biggest complaint. It's like an extra $15. Regardless, a nuna pipa lite/lx model should be paired with the minu. There isn't a better light weight combination than this.
It would have been fantastic if the stroller could be collapsed without the adapters being removed. It was more convenient to use a larger stroller that could be collapsed without taking any extra steps.
It does exactly what it should. This was purchased on the spur of the moment for a beach trip. For easy storage, the adapters come with a small pouch that can be attached to the underside of the minu. They are simple to ooo on and off, but as others have mentioned, it would be nice if there was a way to fold it with the adapters attached, but they are easy to put on and take off in under 30 seconds. br>The minu snaps on easily, and the fabric seat does not need to be removed, but the canopy must be removed. Because I don't plan to use the minu until the baby is at least a year old, it's a great asset to have.
Apart from that, I adore it. It has aided us in using Minu for purposes other than travel! We now use our Minu almost as much as our Vista because it's perfect for outings where the big stroller won't fit.
