My two-year-old (who is still learning to use the potty) peed in his car seat the first time I used it. Because he has a large car seat, removing the cover to wash it is a pain and it won't fit back in the same place. As a result, I had to soak the car seat in Febreze to get the urine smell to go away, but now you can see urine on the bottom of my child's clothes when he sits in it. The car seat has been ruined, and the seller has refused to do anything other than refund the product, which does not help me because I could have returned it and received a refund anyway. Hopefully, my car seat will no longer stink one day. The customer service is poor, and the product is substandard.
These are absolutely fantastic! Long car trips with potty-training toddlers usually necessitate ripping apart and cleaning their seats, but not this time! The same can't be said for newborn blowouts (you know what I'm talking about), but not with these! Simply take it off and put it in the washing machine. The car seat is kept clean and dry.
When my toddler pees while sleeping, it leaks all the way down into the cracks and crevices of the car seat, eventually forming puddles in the bottom of my Graco 4ever carseat. Washing the car seat was becoming a chore for me. I didn't want to put her back in diapers during the day because she had been out of them for months. This pad is waterproof, and it claims to keep seats dry. I put this in my car seat after washing it for an hour in the hopes of solving our problem. Nope. It kept the water from pooling in the bottom (this time), but it didn't keep my car seat dry. It leaked all the way through the piddle pad, the car seat cover, and the plastic beneath it was also soaked. Not a good idea.
However, knowing that she has it just in case gives me a great deal of peace of mind. It was a breeze to set up. It seems to me that anyone who is potty training their toddler will benefit greatly from it. I believe it is necessary because I do not want my child to be uncomfortable while sitting in her mess; at the very least, with this product, I am more at ease.
During the summer, we would go to the pool almost every day. I'd put my child in the stroller with a wet swim diaper, and the stroller would be soaked the next day. This is fantastic, and it's simple to toss in the dryer.
This was purchased in preparation for a road trip. My three-year-old autistic son is mostly potty trained, but he still has trouble with potty cues. It offered no protection to the car seat in the event of a collision. I assumed I hadn't installed it correctly because it was our first trip to our destinations. Another accident occurred on the way back home the second time, and it completely failed this time as well.
It's a waste of money, and it causes you additional stress every time you load your child into it. It also doesn't keep anything from getting wet. Getting rid of it.
We had our first car accident in the seat, and it straight through this and the car seat padding.
