It claims to work up to 300 feet away. I've used it on my deck, but it's only 75 feet away.
The only cordless device is the parent unit. Furthermore, unlike other models, you cannot communicate with the baby unit via the parent unit. We have an older Philips model that does this, and I use it to communicate with my wife in the baby room on occasion.
The monitor operates on the DECT frequency range (1880MHz to 1900MHz). 1900MHz).
The voltage is 120v/220v. 240v.

Before discovering this one, I went through 4 or 5 baby monitors. I'm not sure if you'll get a perfect product at this point, but we think this one comes pretty close. br>br>Background information: br>br> br>br>In December of 2014, we welcomed twin boys into our family - They were premmies, and anyone who has dealt with one knows that they don't sleep much. Partly because you're terrified they'll stop breathing at any moment (which usually happens while you're trying to sleep) and partly because they're noisy little suckers - It's akin to taking care of a herd of baby goats. We also had a problem with the video monitor we used with our daughter's range not reaching our bedroom, so we had to come up with a different solution. After much debate about Russians watching our babies sleep (conclusion: who cares), we decided that a Dropcam (now Nest) combined with an audio monitor would be the best solution - I bought a Safety 1st Baby Monitor, which worked most of the time but had a lot of static and would freak out if left on for too long. After a year, it finally broke (which was a good thing because I had developed a strong dislike for it). We tried a few more, but they all failed due to range - Our baby goats made more noise than the ones who didn't. br>br>In the world of baby monitors, the Philips Avent DECT baby monitor was a last-ditch effort. It turned out that the range was no problem for it, and the big winner was. It doesn't make any noise if there isn't any. AHHHHH, at least for part of the night, instead of listening to their rain machine and static all night, I can now enjoy some peace and quiet - We actually place the monitor outside of their door because it has a built-in noise gate that is triggered when ambient noise rises above a certain level and is quite sensitive. I was afraid it wouldn't respond if the babies made noise the first few nights I used it, but it does. Every single time. One night, I sat there with the monitor and dropcam (which has a slight delay) and it didn't miss a single baby sound- I have complete faith in it now, and the quality of our sleep has significantly improved - This monitor comes highly recommended by me. Oh, and it also works with 220v; we used it in Germany, so there's that. I'm not sure what we were thinking when we had twins in Germany.
My husband's breathing could be heard. As he recovers from a broken hip, he sleeps in a lift chair in the living room and I in my bedroom. br>On the second night, the power went out, so he got up and slid out onto the floor. We summoned an ambulance, and thankfully, no one was hurt. I'm currently sleeping in my living room. However, this incident caused him to lose a significant amount of his walking ability. br>Since then, I've tried to get the monitor to work, but it only works for a short time before cutting out. Our residence is only 900 square feet in size. The signal isn't being disrupted by anything. I would not recommend this product. br> I should have returned it right away, but it only works for a short time before failing, and I don't want them to resell it to someone else! This item is extremely hazardous to your health. It's possible that mine was a lemon, but I purchased it based on positive reviews. For us, this was a tragedy.
This is a backup/travel monitor that I purchased. My primary baby monitor is a higher-end model from the same company, so I was confident that this would perform admirably. And, yes, the reception was excellent even on the third floor of our vacation home. br>However, it lacks some features that other similar monitors, even at this lower price point, manage to keep. I thought I could get by without the two-way communication while traveling, but I discovered on this trip that it's a feature that's absolutely necessary when your baby is sleeping in an unfamiliar room; In addition, I assumed this monitor, like my main monitor, could tune out white noise. But, whatever the "eco" mode's ostensible purpose is. That isn't exactly how it works. In short, this is a good monitor that does the job, but I wish I had gone with a different brand that offers two-way audio. br>In conclusion, this is a good monitor that does the job, but I wish I had gone with a different brand that offers two-way audio. Recognition of the way and white noise.
Replaced a set that was prone to interference and had to be carefully positioned to pass through a single plaster wall. This set is not at all difficult to work with. br>br>It took me a while to get used to the feature that stops transmitting sound if there is only white noise; I guess I was worried that I would miss something quiet. I began to appreciate not hearing the snores and sighs coming from the baby's room once I gained confidence in it to transmit any talking/crying.
This item is fantastic! It's incredible how sensitive it is, but if the sound levels don't stay above the trigger threshold for a short period of time, it turns off. That's exactly what it's made for. I've never experienced a loss of connection. I had previously purchased a different brand, which had proven to be completely useless. In fact, I use the monitors in my basement to listen for strange noises. I have a kitty who has to spend the night in the basement, and I was afraid she'd get sick or something and I wouldn't know. It detects her meowing and playing with her toys. I also need to be able to hear any noises that could indicate a break-in or if the mechanical equipment (boiler/hot water heater, etc. ) fails.
I have a 2-tiered system that costs a little more. I had previously purchased a way avent monitor for my baby's nursery, so when I needed something for my preschooler's room, I was delighted to find that it was the same brand; clear reception, easy to use. The child's unit must be plugged in, and I keep the parent unit plugged in all of the time downstairs to save on batteries. This is ideal for a babysitter doing homework while the children sleep, as well as for me to be in the yard or garage during naps and hear when my child awakens. My children never get out of bed on their own; instead, they wait for me to come into their rooms after naps to get them. I like the low price and the fact that there is no video feed that I don't want or need.
Through three closed doors, I'm still getting a signal. This is a fantastic tool. Through three closed doors, down the hall, past my garage, and out into the driveway, I still have signal. It also blocks out background noise in the room but automatically turns back on when baby makes a sound. This is fantastic!.
