I also purchased a second set for the bedroom of my other child. I haven't had any problems, and they're sitting next to each other on my nightstand.
In order for the base unit to function, it must be plugged in. Only the parent unit has a wireless connection.
The range was terrible, so these didn't work. I bought two pairs of Angel Care monitors, and they're fantastic.
I'll write down the numbers on the battery I have: BYD H- AAA500BX2- is an acronym for Then there's CT, followed by 500mAh, and finally L50. I'm not sure which number sequence they're looking for, but here it is.

This monitor was purchased to replace an older analog Sony monitor that began making loud whooshing noises whenever anything else was plugged into the same socket. We've been using the Samsung monitor for about a month and it's made a significant difference! It's small, lightweight, attractive, and, best of all, it makes no strange noises! br>br>It was incredibly simple to set up and install, and it easily maintains a charge throughout the day. When the baby is sleeping but I'm in the living room watching TV rather than the bedroom, where we keep the charging cable to plug it in overnight, this is extremely useful. This works great and eliminates the worry of the battery dying at an inopportune time. br>br>There are only two minor flaws with this monitor, both of which are related to how I sleep, so they may not be a deal breaker for other buyers. The first is the monitor's front-facing green "on" light - It has an OUTSTANDING amount of brightness to it. As in, it illuminates my entire bedroom and can cast bright shadows on hand puppets. I'm not sure how Samsung came up with a tiny bulb that produces so much light, but it's impressive; unfortunately, it keeps me awake at night because I prefer my room to be almost completely dark to sleep. br>br>The second problem (which may be a deal breaker for some) is that I believe the speaker is too quiet. Because I can't hear anything else at that volume, I keep it on all the time. However, because I am a heavy sleeper, I require a very loud alarm clock. br>br>Overall, I believe this is an excellent monitor at a reasonable price. I would give it 5 stars if the light was less blinding and the speaker was louder!.

Pros: The sound is very clear and sensitive (it picks up sound from a cat walking around the room). It's simple to operate and transport.
Cons: The rechargeable batteries in the parents' unit have lost their ability to hold a charge. After 5 months from the date of purchase, I reached out to the manufacturer- They were very courteous, opened the case, and told me to wait for a call from the repair department. . . . After 24 hours, I receive an email from the repair department stating that I must send a $50 check and a unit to them, as well as pay for return shipping, and they will repair/replace the unit. . . . . . really? This should be covered under the warranty repair. . . With a unit costing $70, I'd rather buy a new one. . . I've been waiting for the repair department to respond to my question about whether or not it should be covered under the warranty for the past two months. . . br>We still use it, but we keep it plugged in all the time, which is inconvenient and I would expect more from a two-month-old Samsung product, which is why I gave it a three-star rating.
EVEN IF THE SOUND IS OFF OR LOWERED. ONE EXCELLENT UNIT. LIGHTS LET YOU KNOW SOMETHING IS HAPPENING EVEN IF THE SOUND IS OFF OR TURNED DOWN. WHEN THERE IS SOUND, ONE LIGHT BLINKS, AND WHEN THERE IS MOVEMENT (WHEN SOUND HAS BEEN TURNED DOWN OR MUTED), A OTHER LIGHT BLINKS. WHEN THE SOUND HAS BEEN TURNED ON THE SOUND IS ABSOLUTELY FLAWLESS, AND IT STILL BEEPS WHEN THERE IS MOVEMENT BUT NO SOUND. I STRONGLY RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT NOT ONLY FOR BABIES, BUT ALSO FOR MY WIFE WHO HAS SEIZURES AND CANNOT SPEAK, BUT IF SHE MOVES, THE MONITOR ALERT ME. WONDERFULLY WONDERFULLY AMAZINGLY WONDERFULLY WONDERFULLY W NOT ENOUGH STARS ARE AVAILABLE TO APPLY JUSTICE TO THIS UNIT. THAT'S ALL I HAVE TO SAY. We purchased this product because we needed something quick and easy to use if we had to go outside, but we were disappointed to discover that the baby unit had to be plugged in all of the time. I wanted something I could just put next to my sleeping baby and not have to worry about finding an outlet nearby. But we agreed to put up with it for the time being. br>br>Then, after charging the parent unit for 16 hours, it couldn't find the baby unit, even though they were sitting next to each other, and the "out of range" light blinked and beeped for an hour. They never made a connection or sent any data. The instructions stated that the two devices should be "paired" prior to purchase, but this one clearly didn't work, so we'll be returning it.
My daughter frequently uses this baby monitor for her baby when she is outside and he is in his crib; the sound quality is excellent, and the monitor is lightweight and portable. You can hear the baby becoming fussy before he begins to cry, which is a good sign. It's a lot better than having to check on the baby all the time!.
The fact that these didn't work was a huge disappointment to me. My mother is 90 years old and lives about 500 feet away from us; they refused to pick up the phone and even refused to work outside.
I like it a lot, but I can't have one upstairs and one downstairs because of the range.
Amazing range, clear sound, and long battery life; only wish it were a little louder, but that could be due to the microphone's placement.
