Hello, and thank you for your inquiry. The plate and bowl are free of BPA. Thanks!
The Disney Feeding Set for the First Years is designed for children aged 3 and up.
My one is Mickey Mouse, but assuming they're all the same, the feeding ends are metal. Plastic is used for the handles.

This was originally purchased for my 3-year-old grandson to keep at my home. He hugged it and immediately put it in his backpack when he saw it, even before I could tell him it was for him to use when he came to Grammy and Poppy's for dinner! "THANK YOU SO MUCH!" he exclaimed as he hugged me. Imagine his dissatisfaction when the design began to fade. I would have assumed it was either my top shelf dishwasher or my detergent if it had been left at my house, but since my daughter doesn't have a dishwasher, it has only been hand washed. This is ridiculous, and I'm curious as to how much of it fell off while he was eating out of it! SCARY! I need to replace this with something more durable and exciting for him! This is, without a doubt, being returned!.
This item is dishwasher safe, according to the manufacturer. This is not the case. I put it in the top rack of the dishwasher, and a film formed on the plate (see photos). It's not a film that should be removed prior to use.
I purchased this for my youngest grandson because I had purchased a similar set for his older brother from another source and wanted them to be somewhat similar; the set I purchased for the older grandson is over three years old, is used at least five days a week, and looks great. I've only recently begun to use this set, but it already appears to be older than the other. Today I cut up pancakes with a butter knife, and the plate was scratched! The plastic is flimsy and of low quality. I wouldn't buy it again, and I'm looking for a replacement right now.
Purchase is not recommended. This is not something you should get for your child. The image began to bubble and peel off after only three uses. This is NOT a SAFE environment for children. The quality is poor, and it's possible that my child ate it. Again, this should not be used to prepare food. I didn't even use the microwave or the dishwasher - Hand-washing is the only way to go.
As you can see in the photo, the design on the plate is scraping off due to my 2-year-old grandson's use of it. The design is easily removed by scraping it with my fingernail. The back logo has smeared as well. I never put the plate in the dishwasher; I always wash it by hand. When I contacted Zak (the manufacturer), they informed me that they had not produced this item in over a decade! It's no surprise that the design has aged. And Amazon, not a third-party seller, is selling it. Amazon, you've got to be ashamed of yourself.
During the manufacturing process, some of the edge decoration must have made its way into the plate. I felt something rough and bumpy over the back wheel of the yellow car when I took it out of the package to wash it. The sticker began to flake off as I was washing it! I have no intention of allowing my child to eat from a plate that is covered in flaking sticker pieces! Regrettably, his favorite film is Cars, so he will be disappointed.
While the items themselves were durable enough to withstand my 2-year-old son's use, the imagery on the plate, bowl, and even utensils began to peel away. The utensils have fared far better than the plate and bowl, which appear to be scraping away at all times. Very dissatisfying.
I couldn't decide whether to give it a three or four star rating. I bought a few of each style (Minnie Mouse, Mickey Mouse, and Cars). They're all very sturdy, and I like that they're all in one package. The designs appear to be holding up after several washes in my dishwasher's top rack. My only gripe is that the Mickey and Minnie ear compartments are essentially useless. They're too small to fit anything in while still being able to scoop it out. For scale, I've included a photo of a quarter. The larger compartment on the Cars plate is a plus, but my son finds it difficult to get food out of the arrow shape's corners. My children enjoy them, and I intend to keep them, but I'm not sure I'd buy them again.
