Questions & Answers

Is this going to work for dog waste in a tied-up situation? what happened to the plastic bags? Keeping in the garage until trash day is required. It must not emit any odors. ?

YES. That is precisely what I use it for, and it is extremely effective. Because I'd have to carry the poo through the house if I kept the diaper genie in the garage, I keep it outside in a sheltered area on my patio. Because the flaps to the inner chamber are open, I only notice a smell when I open the lid. However, it is only a couple of sentences long. You could probably cut that down as well, as the other responder suggested, by placing a baking soda box or a carbon filter in the bottom of the pail. The carbon filter should not be attached to the lid as directed. It won't stick, and there's no odor at the top of the pail with the flaps closed. br>It works great for this purpose, and I highly recommend it!

Can you use the diaper genie II (two) refills with this? I have a couple of those lying around. ?

They're universal, in my opinion. So . Yes, I believe that to be the case.

Is it possible to use this product with adult-sized diapers? I look after an elderly parent and am having a hard time dealing with their odors. ?

It can, however, deal with Depends, which should be similar. Adults, on the other hand, have much stronger odors than children. The Genie will probably need to be emptied more frequently than regular diapers, but the frequency will be determined by how frequently you use it. Every five years or so, I empty ours (for my husband). 7 days. To help prevent odors, twist the plastic bag tightly as soon as you put a new diaper or set of diapers in it. I also wipe down ours with a Clorox "wipie" every now and then, and occasionally spray the inside of the lower section with Febreze; it's a godsend. I had never considered it until my daughter brought it up to me. For a while, my husband and new baby lived here, and I bought one so we wouldn't have to run up and down the stairs to use the bathroom! I recently purchased a second one that included the deodorizer, but I don't believe it has made much of a difference. I hope this has been of assistance.

I live in New Zealand and would like to know if this product requires a power outlet (plug into the wall) or if it can be powered by batteries. ?

Neither. There is no need for a power source with this product, but you will need the Diaper Genie refill bags (which are sold separately, but I believe you get one in the box). When you place a dirty diaper in the genie, plastic claws open when you step on the foot pedal, then close when you release the pedal, allowing the diaper to fall into the bag.

Yes, this is exactly what you're looking for
4/5

After attempting to go without one after 5 years of use, I can attest to the Diaper Genie Elite's greatness. We purchased one when my first daughter was born 5 years ago. It did a good job of standing up to the test of time. The negatives come first, followed by the positives. br>br>Here are all of my complaints about the first one (and why I gave it four stars):
1. When someone tried to stuff a diaper into a diaper that was already too full, the opening mechanism would "jump track. " When someone was particularly vigorous with their diaper stuffing, I could either snap it back into place or remove two screws and reassemble.
2. During the second baby, the small "hinge" piece of plastic that connects the lid to broke, most likely after 3 years. We were not able to use it because of it, but it was inconvenient.
3. Over time, it loses its ability to hold odor. This does not imply that the room stinks all of the time; rather, it means that it is noticeable when there are particularly stinky emissions. I came across a few Munchkin Arms and decided to stick them in. The use of Hammer Nursery Air Fresheners in the bottom of the room was beneficial. Here's what's good: br>br>
1. You don't have a diaper odor in your home. We decided to skip the Diaper Genie when we tried potty training my 2-year-old in the hopes that she would be pooping in the potty soon. That did not happen, and our trash contained the feces of a two-year-old and later a three-year-old. That was horrible and only lasted a short time because I bought it to get rid of the stench of poo. Getting the Diaper Genie after not using one for a long time reminded me of how important it is to have one. 2. br>br>1. br>br>br>br>br>br When you think the fact that your house doesn't smell like poo is enough, I'll add that using the device is fantastic. The value of the foot pedal is immeasurable. The built-in cutter makes changing bags a breeze. This is a fantastic setup. br>br>It's worth noting that the new model appears to work only with Diaper Genie bags for the time being, but that's all we've ever used through S. S, as well as Amazon Mom.

Excellent Product - To work with Target Refills, a minor change is required
4/5

My Diaper Genie is my absolute favorite! I had to order a replacement after a piece of the plastic on the "flaps" broke off on the first one. I never notice a diaper odor in the nursery unless the diapers aren't tightly wrapped. This one has one thing I'd like to say. Only Diaper Genie refills are compatible, according to the box. (It's for this reason that I gave it four stars - If you remove the plastic refill holder that circles the inside of the refill container from the tray, it will work. ) Target ones will work IF you remove the plastic refill holder that circles the inside of the refill container from the tray. It has plastic clips on it that allow it to be snapped in and out. The Target refills sank in nicely after that, and the door shut smoothly - Despite the fact that the odor thing is in place.

There is no stench in the baby's room! This isn't the ideal diaper pail, but it comes close
5/5

br>br>We've been using it since the baby was born (he's now 6 months old and wearing nicely scented diapers) and have never had an odor problem. Given that this is the primary reason for purchasing a diaper pail, I'd give it a five-star rating. We can empty the pail every three days or so because it holds enough diapers. The self- Cutting the next plastic bag from the refill container with the 'knife' included inside the pail (where no baby will ever find it) is a breeze. br>br>For those who aren't familiar with the term, outstanding features: It's made of a thin, flimsy plastic. especially the closing button (we have to fiddle with the entire thing to get it to latch closed properly after changing the diaper bag out). The re- The fills aren't cheap (you can't just use any plastic bag for this!). The pail is a little on the tall side. (I'm not sure if this won't tip over on our inquisitive crawler one day now that it's empty of diapers. ) The odor- The absorbent thing that came with the pail (that you're supposed to stick to the underside of the lid) never worked (it kept falling off into the pail), so we just tossed it after a week of fiddling with it. In any case, it isn't required. br>br>However, as I previously stated, you purchase a diaper pail to store stinky diapers so that they do not stink up the house, which this does. So, if you can afford the refills, I strongly advise you to do so!.

It's fantastic- It is impossible to imagine our nursery without it
5/5

The majority of my previous review for this upgrade still holds true, so here it is again: br>br>When we became first-time parents a few years ago, one of the most helpful pieces of advice we received from our already-experienced friends was to keep a journal. Parents' friends advised us not to get caught up in the notion that we needed a plethora of baby gadgets. The baby, particularly in his or her first year or years, requires attentive parents who are ready to play, feed, and change diapers. We continue to believe- However, we believe that there are a select few gadgets that are worthwhile to purchase, and this is one of them. We can't imagine our nursery without it at all. (And we don't have to imagine it because we went a few days without one when the first one broke. ) I'll get back to you on that. But, to be honest, we really missed it. )br>br>I imagine the Diaper Genie has changed over time. Our friends who are older parents had mostly negative things to say about the Diaper Genie and similar products. I guess they were more complicated back then, because the majority of people said they simply gave up and used it as a regular trashcan. br>br>However, they appear to be quite simple to use at the moment. We discovered that changing the bags on a regular basis is the key to success. If it begins to stink, stop using it immediately. It is crammed to the brim. If getting the diapers to drop into the pail is proving difficult, It is crammed to the brim. If you have to really push the diaper down to get it past the catch-all, that's a sign that it's too big. It is crammed to the brim. It was overfilled almost every time it didn't work properly. br>br>About 18 months in, I broke the first one. It was late, I was tired, and I was trying to stuff one more diaper into my bag with too much force. As a result, one of the springs gave way, allowing only half of the catch to close after each diaper was dropped. We tried to live with it for a while, but it became more annoying than helpful, so we decided to replace it, and we're glad we did. br>br>We've told all of our new-parent friends about the Diaper Genie. We have parent friends, and we've heard nothing but good things from them. br>br>The carbon filter is the most significant difference. I'm not sure what I'm saying. There isn't much of a difference that we've noticed. It makes sense that it might help with odors for some people, but if you change the bags frequently enough, odor isn't much of a problem in the first place.
