Questions & Answers

Is it still necessary to "squish" the diapers through the opening, as the older Munchkin pail reviewers all mention?

Diapers are relatively simple to insert, particularly if they are wrapped. It's important to empty the pail when it's full to avoid getting it on your hands. With the arm and hammer extension bags, it's easy to overfill it.

Is there a bag included with the pail?

It has a few features. Maybe five or six? However, you'll run out of refills quickly.

Is the pail made of steel or plastic?

It's made of rubber. Silver plastic is used for the'metallic' parts. Cleaning is a breeze.

When depositing the diaper in the narrow opening of the diaper pail, the "squish effect" is mentioned in reviews of a different model. Is this something that needs to be looked into?

This is an old question, but I'll answer it for anyone who's interested: Yes, soiled diapers must be pushed through the small gap. However, we haven't gotten anything gross on our fingers as a result of this, nor have we had to struggle. My daughter is a size 7 Pamper and is very tall for her age. I take off dirty diapers and tightly wrap the sides around the diaper to make it very compact; the only time we have an issue is with her AM diaper, which she wore to bed because it's fully saturated with pee, and getting through the hole can be difficult. I'll toss that one into the kitchen trash occasionally because I empty the kitchen trash every day, so one pee diaper won't stink up the place.

Selected User Reviews For Munchkin Step Diaper Pail Powered by Arm & Hammer with Munchkin Arm & Hammer Diaper Pail Snap, Seal and Toss Refill Bags

Stop whining about it! This diaper sack is fantastic! I'm not sure why this has such a high number of negative reviews
5/5

I realize it's probably not the same as the previous model, and change is difficult, but it's still a fantastic diaper pail. br>br>According to some reviews, the top of the bag's sealing mechanism fails to seal after a few diapers have been placed inside. You haven't properly adjusted the bag. With the refill ring, knot the bottom of the bag and ensure that a couple inches of bag above the knot touches the pail's bottom. (CLICK ON PHOTO FOR LARGER VERSION. ) ) The diapers' weight then rests on the bottom of the pail, preventing the closing mechanism from closing. It doesn't waste any bags because you're still only cutting off the portion of the bag that's full of diapers and pulling the extra down to use next time. br>br>Some of the reviews complain that it doesn't contain any smell. After I've changed the bag in the pail, little one always poop in the first diaper. Even though I know it will be a long time before it is emptied again, I still put the poopy diaper in the pail. There isn't a whiff of anything. When I change the bag, I toss the used portion into our kitchen trashcan (where it also sits for a while), and the trash simply smells like Arm & Hammer. The bags have a hammer-like odor to them. dirty diapers are not one of them I like how both the bags and the disc help with odor control. It's also possible that purchasing a refill ring from a different manufacturer is contributing to the issue. br>br>According to some reviews, you must empty the thing frequently. Despite the fact that I have no odor issues, I imagine the likelihood of the used diaper odor escaping grows with each day you don't empty it. I'm glad it makes me change the bag every couple of days so the odor doesn't get out of hand. br>br>According to some reviews, you must force the diaper through the sealing mechanism. Get it out of your system. After all, you're going to wash your hands after changing the baby. br>br>According to some reviews, after inserting the diaper, you must push the container's lid down. The pail's sealing mechanism is closed this way. The lid can be resealed with more force if you push it down. I'd rather push the lid down and get a good seal than risk a stench from dirty diapers if I didn't close the lid. br>br>Though this is my first diaper pail, I use one at a friend's house when I babysit their children. They have an old-school one where you put the diaper in a small cup and then pull the handle down/up to transfer the diaper to the pail. You must still press something down (lever vs. There's a hole in the lid on that one, and the smell seeps through. (Despite the fact that there isn't an Arm. ) That's something Hammer is associated with, so it's possible that's the difference. Overall, I believe this is a fantastic diaper pail. )br>br> It's very unobtrusive, and it may be a few dollars more expensive than its competitors, but if I had to buy a diaper pail all over again, I'd choose this one.

An item for dog owners! I wanted to wait until I was completely satisfied with the experience before writing a review
5/5

I bought it because I needed a place to put my dog's poop. Yes, you read correctly, I live in a beautiful neighborhood and couldn't get rid of the poop. Needless to say, I wasn't prepared to store them in my garage (Florida) while waiting for garbage collection twice a week. So I put this bin outside in a covered area. br>My dogs are both 85 pounds, so you can imagine the volume. br>Anyway, I decided to take a chance. br>After reading a few reviews, I realized a few things: You must ensure that the bag is properly installed, with the bottom lying flat (approximately 2 inches). br>The second point to consider is this: It's crucial to replace the baking soda on the lid on a regular basis (I do so every six weeks). br>Third, I threw in two small pouches of charcoal just to be safe. br>The bin is thoroughly cleaned twice a week while I replace the bags.
God! It works! Even when I change the bag, there is no odor, which I find hard to believe. Because there was a slight odor before, the charcoal is helpful. Regardless, this is my best purchase and the only way I can store my dog's waste. However, I may edit this review over the summer, but everything has been fine since early September, October, and now the end of November.

It's simple to use and it keeps the smell in
5/5

To save money, make your own refills with regular trash bags. This diaper pail is absolutely adorable. We used to use a regular garbage can until we started solids and the smell became unbearable. This container effectively seals in the odor while also being simple to use. The proprietary bag refills are astronomically priced and a complete ripoff. They're simple to make at home. Simply purchase high-quality Arm and Hammer scented drawstring garbage bags, tighten the drawstring, and feed the bag into the refill ring, where it will be secured. It works great, holds a lot of diapers, and is inexpensive.

With caveats, it's a great product
4/5

Let's get the important stuff out of the way first. Even after a full load that has lasted several days, there is no odor anywhere near the pail. However, we haven't yet completed our initial arm and hammer deodorizer insert. That's a lot of money. DO NOT be fooled by Amazon's "frequently purchased together with" bar that appears when you purchase this item. The tiny deodorizers aren't what you're looking for. We discovered this the hard way, and now we must locate a UPS drop box to return them. The replacements are known as "pucks," and they can be purchased for $5 on Amazon or for $4 directly from Munchkin (with free shipping if you spend $25). br>br>Recent changes: br>br> We originally purchased two of these, but the second one died after only 18 months. A set of gears tightens up the top of the bag as you close the lid, preventing odor from escaping. These gears are made of plastic, and they tend to wear out quickly. We thought the first one died because the bag was too full when we closed it, but the second one died just as quickly after we babied it. If when it's working, it's any indication of how great or how well it works. , and I'm about to spend another $70 on a third. However, it is clear that a star has been deducted. Someone could definitely make one of these that is comparable in terms of odor elimination but lasts longer than 9 months in the market.
