Questions & Answers

Is it possible to use a standard trash bag?

I'm sure you could, but the pail liners are much more convenient.

Would this pail be able to withstand being stored outside?

It should not be an issue. If you live in a cold climate, keep an eye on the plastic to ensure it does not become brittle and crack.

What is the object that fits into the lid's holder? The arm and hammer disks are too small to fit inside the lid's small ring. What is the purpose of it?

Although mine is very loose and does not secure it, it snaps over the lip of the lid. I could put a felt liner inside the lid's lip to make it more secure, but I just put the top on and off as needed. I don't have any children who would be interested in participating.

Is it possible to use a regular trash bag?

Yes, but I'd make sure it's extremely durable. I use two black Planet Wise Reusable Diaper Pail Liners that I purchased from Amazon. Because the diapers are so heavy, I'm afraid my kitchen's Costco trash can liners will break. I simply wash the bag in the same machine as the diapers and hang it to dry with the rest of the laundry.

It's a great pail with great odor control
4/5

We've had this pail for a few years and only recently dug it out of storage in preparation for baby number two. br>br>On the order, this pail is fantastic. I purchased a large sheet of charcoal filter and simply cut out my own replacements because it is much less expensive. No odor escapes when I put three discs in the bottom part of the filter holder. br>br>The one we received has metal handles, not plastic, as shown in the picture. br>br>I've discovered that if you keep it somewhere humid, moisture will build up inside it, but not if you keep it somewhere cool and dry. That's probably the price to pay for it being relatively airtight. It holds more and has better odor control than a wet bag that isn't as airtight (like a zipped up wet bag). br>br>Planet wise diaper pail liners are easy to use and can be washed in the same machine as the diapers. br>br>The only thing I'm stumped on is what goes in the inside of the lid's half-ring. It's too small to hold an arm and hammer odor control disc, and there are no order disks for this pail on the market.

We've tried a lot of adult diapers, and this is the best one we've found
5/5

It doesn't rust and it holds the scent well. These are great for adult diapers, which is what we're using them for right now. Nothing gets lost because there are only two parts (four if you count the lid screw thing), and it hasn't cracked. When using a regular kitchen trash bag stretched around the rim or a PUL liner, there is no scent in the room after the initial scent from a diaper change fades. It does, in fact, have a scent to it. Believe me when I say that we tried everything for him. This pail makes the top three after years of battling with every other pail on the market. It's also simple to use. br>br> Unsnap one side, toss in the diaper, and snap it back together. Done. There will be no wrangling with strange chutes or the need to replace strange proprietary bags. Love it. br>br>There is a scent when you first open it to put a diaper in, but that's the nature of the beast with a diaper pail; every pail does it. It dissipates quickly and does not fill the room with a strong scent. Maintain a supply of febreze, however. br>br>Tl; Tl; Tl; Tl; Tl; Tl; Tl; Tl; dr - no smell. There are no rust or cracks on this item. Any garbage bag will do. It's simple to insert diapers.

It was a good investment
5/5

We began using cloth diapers in the second trimester of our pregnancy. We started with the Mio nappy bucket, which served us well for 5 years with a very small washing machine. The diaper bag could hold a day's worth of diapers for an infant or two toddlers. However, we recently upgraded to a massive washing machine, which is a significant improvement over our previous apartment-sized machine. Our old bucket, on the other hand, required daily washing to keep it from overflowing. We got this pail, and it's fantastic! I had no idea why I paid $70 for a diaper bucket, but it was well worth it. It holds more than three days' worth of diapers, and it could hold three days' worth of diapers for two children. The sides easily latch closed, preventing my foster dogs from getting in, but they're also easy to open one-handed while holding your newly changed baby. There is no odor (and we have a lot of stinky poop over here!). Thanks to the charcoal filter that was included, this was possible.

When I opened the box, I discovered a filthy, dusty pail full of missing parts
3/5

This item has been resurrected, and it is not the fault of the item, but rather the one I received. I'll attach a photo of what I received. I opened the box to find a filthy, dusty missing parts pail, as shown in the photo, but I received white. With the teddy cover missing, there's a big hole on top where the filter should go. As a result, all it would do is expel the odor. Something had to be wrong because it's 3 inches wide and the odor would come out right away. I only discovered it after resurrecting what this should have looked like instead of what I got. It will be returned to Amazon, according to the company. I spent $89 on this purchase. The first two photos are what I got, and the last photo is what I should have gotten to show Teddy on, because the one I got has a hole in it.

Massive and Moist: The diaper pail is fantastic at containing odors, but not so good at containing moisture
4/5

When the pail is opened, the inside of the pail remains damp, and the inside of the lid is moist. Occasionally, I forget and graze the inside of the lid with my fingers or hand. I'm fighting the urge to toss it to the ground. I'm not sure if it's because of the pail or because of the liners I bought for it, but every time I wash a load of diapers, I have to let it air out. I like the size, but I expected something a little bigger for the price. The one I was using before this had a sizing issue, not a moisture problem. That's why I believe it's the pail rather than the liner that's causing the problem. I'm also curious if the charcoal can be replaced, or even if it's necessary.

It keeps the odor inside
4/5

I didn't think it would keep the smell in when I first got it, but I was pleasantly surprised. I used to have to wash diapers every day because my previous pail was too small, but now I can go up to 4 days without having to.

Awesome
5/5

It has no odor at all! I couldn't believe my eyes. The only thing that could make it better is if the lid could be lifted with a foot pedal. Nonetheless, I strongly advise you to purchase this item.

Excellent, and as promised, odorless! Controls odors exceptionally well
5/5

One of the wisest decisions I've ever made! The house had a bad odor, but with this odorless diaper pail, it was no longer an issue. no smell! Love it. Although the size is unusual, a 13 gallon regular trash bag will fit if I stretch the sides and top of the bag all the way around, being careful not to tear it. I recommend it for parents who have multiple diaper-sized children or for adult diapers, which I use as a disabled caregiver.
