Questions & Answers

Is it possible to use regular trash bags?

Yes, a 13 gallon trash bag can be used. They'll easily fold where the dekor liner replacements go, and they're a lot less expensive. The liner that came with ours lasted just over 6 weeks, with a full load being emptied every 4 weeks. Usually 5 days, but it can be earlier. Which would have been around 12-years-old at the time. Thirteen garbage bags br>br>I'd estimate that the $15 two-pack replacements would last a little over three months with about 25 replacements. On Amazon right now, you can get 110 Glad odorshield trash bags for around $13, which will last you about a year.

Is it possible to use cloth diapers with this method?

Yes, you'll need two large wet bag liners (one for the pail and one for the washing machine). Kissa was kind enough to sell me one. Elastic top made of white PUL. This pail is one of my favorites! The plastic disposable liner refill that comes with it is not necessary.

Is there a set of liners included, or do you have to buy them separately?

Liners are available separately, but because we use cloth, we've been using it with reusable/washable bags. Another advantage of this diaper pail is that it can be used in the garden. kitchen trash bags come in a variety of sizes. Best of luck!

Is it possible to use these with Planet Wise reusable diaper liners? We cloth diaper. ?

Without a doubt. My wife and I use Planet Wise liners in our daughter's pail. Because of the size of cloth diapers, it doesn't take long for it to fill up, but if you're cloth diapering, it's better to use reusable liners with it. When it's time to wash the diapers, simply throw the liner in with the diapers.

5/5

I can't believe this is where my life has led me, but I'm writing a diaper pail review. But, despite the fact that it may sound silly, I have become strangely enamored with my diaper pail, the Dekor, and believe that my acquired knowledge about 2s is worthy of passing on. I've changed a lot of diapers over the years because we have five children. I was never a fan of the first diaper pail we got years ago, which was a diaper genie. My main gripe was that after changing the diaper, you had to push said stinky, gross, and occasionally - Squeezing an otherworldly large diaper into a small hole on the genie would often result in "spillover," which would get poop on your hand, in the pail, and in general places where you don't want poop. Keep in mind that you're doing this while holding your bundle of eternal joy in one arm and reaching down to stuff the otherworldly large diaper into an incomprehensibly small hole with the other. It's not going to be easy. Then we came across the Dekor. br>br> It rocks. Why? It's a HANDS-FREE experience. This is a game changer. It has a foot pedal that opens the pail, and then all you have to do is drop the diaper through the trap door. That concludes our discussion. Let me tell you something, at 3 a. m. , and you're a zombie due to a lack of sleep, you'll want to keep things as simple as possible. I can't even imagine how many diapers I've changed over the years, but this diaper pail makes it a lot easier than the Genie. br>br>We also looked at the Ubbi, which is a metal pail that costs a little more. When I looked at it in the store, I noticed that it also requires bending over and sliding a door open, inserting a diaper, and then closing it. Every time you change a diaper, it's a bit of a pain. It's made of metal, so it shouldn't absorb odors like the diaper genie did, but the Dekor is also made of ABS, which doesn't absorb odors, so I don't think it's a big deal. Consider the metal pails for a second. In my research (doesn't it seem a little sad that I did research? – We need to get out more), the manufacturer recommends wiping it down with a dry cloth. There were no cleaning supplies or even water on the premises. Okay, that's just revolting. Clean with any household cleaner you want with Dekor, and let's get rid of any germs that are lurking. Bags br>br>Bags br>br>Bags br>br>Bags The systems used in various pails vary. Some people use grocery store bags, while others use bag cartridges. Dekor comes with a pre-loaded refill, which is the way to go in my opinion. You use what you require before replacing the bag. We tried using a kitchen bag instead of the Dekor refill, and it worked fine, but we preferred the Dekor refill. It's always there and ready to use; you only use what you need, and I'm guessing it costs about the same in the long run. br>br>It stinks. Stank. Stunk. – (Be ready for even more insight. ) Poop has a foul odor. Isn't it shocking? There's a reason why every diaper pail has a lid. There are a lot of 1 star reviews on anything that has been around for more than a few months. Take a look at the other items, and you'll notice that they're all in the three-digit range. Five or four stars are appropriate. Then, for each of them, click the 1 star link to see what I'm talking about. You'll hear dozens of people complain about how bad each product is and how much each pail sticks to the ceiling. Most of this is due to people's unrealistic expectations that by purchasing a diaper pail, they will never have to smell poopy diapers again. This is exacerbated by the fact that your bundle of eternal joy's poop does not begin to smell until he or she begins to eat solid foods. So you think everything is fine when you first bring the baby home and the pail is in perfect working order, and then the pail breaks. It's not broken; your baby's poop simply didn't stink before and now does. The truth is that you will smell poop regardless of which one you purchase. They all let a little stench out, whether you open the lid or remove the bag. Dekor is no exception; it simply allows for fewer options than the others. We change the bag every few days or sooner if one of those otherworldly poops occurs. The Dekor has a capacity of 60 diapers, according to the packaging. We came close with some newborn diapers, but we never waited that long once the poop became serious. br>br>I can't believe I just wrote a manifesto about diaper pails after reading it back. But I thought I'd share some of the experience I've gained from changing thousands of diapers. Simply put, I believe the Dekor is effective. It's by far the most user-friendly of all the diaper pails, and it takes care of the odor. It is something I strongly suggest.

Love it! Compare and contrast: Genie, Plus, Classicbr>*I hope you found this review and photos useful! This is the review I was looking for when deciding which Dekor to purchase
5/5

br>br>Note 5/2018: Updated For the past six months, we've been using it. While I still enjoy it, it has begun to smell. My husband expresses his opinion on the subject. He didn't tell the Genie about his grumbles very often. The entire unit stinks, not just when I'm dropping a diaper in the trap. Before I even disturb the diaper bag, I get a big waft when I open the main door to remove the diapers. I believe the odor pervades the bags (I started with their own and recently switched to Babyfeel to see if that brand was better - (It appears to be the same). I'm pretty sure the odor is absorbed by the plastic once it passes through the bag. To deal with this problem, I'm going to bag the stinky diapers and either throw them away right away or double bag them with a grocery sack. I also dumped some baking soda into the bag at one point, which helped absorb the odor. I'm still not ready to return to a Genie, but if you're switching for scent control, I'd advise caution. br>br>Original review, as follows: br>We've been using the Genie for 21 months, and I'm glad to be done with it. Because of the sleeves, I had to shake/rock the unit a lot to get the diapers to drop. I had to push a large, full diaper in every now and then. Yuck. This will not happen in a NB size, but it will in a size 4. In addition, the Genie sleeves are a little more expensive. In addition: br>br> love it! The trap door is spring-loaded and closes quickly to accommodate the weight of a diaper. I was worried that the lower height would be an issue for me, but it isn't because I don't have to push the diaper in. My only gripe is that the bags are made of a noisy plastic that makes a noise when removed (imagine a grocery sack). It wasn't a big deal, but I did have to gather them after the toddler went to sleep. It's not difficult for me to change my ways in order to love the pail! Other things to adore include: br> Price! ($32 Warehouse open box! br> br> br> br> br> )br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br> br>Same benefits as the Plus, but with a smaller trap door. If this is something that matters to you, look at the pictures. For a newborn, it makes no difference, but for our size 5 toddler diapers, I prefer the size! The classic also has a smaller capacity for diapers. It doesn't appear to be significantly smaller than the Plus. If you don't mind changing the bag more frequently and the trapdoor size isn't an issue, I think you'd be satisfied with either option. Because I intend to return it, I did not use it physically. I'm sure the door is adequate, but there was a significant difference in size between the two trapdoors, so I chose the larger. When I did the math, I found that refills were the same price per diaper capacity. br>br>Overall, the Plus appears to be on par with the Genie in terms of capacity and is more user-friendly. It is more environmentally friendly, contains odors better because the trap door closes so quickly after each use, and is less expensive; it can also be used as a garbage can in the future. Dekor has definitely won me over. br>br>*I believe you would be satisfied with the Classic, but no one wants to change them out any more than you do. The size difference can be seen in the photos. The trapdoor size was the deciding factor in my decision to keep the Plus and send back the Classic. I had hoped that the Classic would fit next to our toilet in the bathroom, but it is too big. I'm thinking about trying the mini, though I'm sure the trapdoor will be too small for pull-ups. diapers for toddlers and adult diapers (This is a guess, not a confirmed observation)br>br>The last photo shows the Genie next to the Plus.

The design has evolved to emit odors
3/5

Three years ago, I bought the Dekor for the first time, and I fell in love with it. Despite the lack of an odor-resistant slot, This diaper pail did a great job of keeping odors in, even without the odor-eating disks that many diaper bins have. Believe it or not, I've only washed it once in the last three years. I mean, the odor nearly killed me every time I opened the pail to change the bag. The odor was mostly contained once the bin was closed again. br>br>After three years, the Dekor began to stink, and no amount of baking soda, outside airing, or Lysol wiping didn't help. As a result, I sold my old Dekor and purchased a new one. That was a huge blunder. Dekor lost track of its customers somewhere along the way. I'm not sure if it's because of the thickness of the plastic or because of some other defect, but the new Dekor emits odors like you wouldn't believe. It stinks up the entire room if even one dirty diaper is in it. br>br>I am dissatisfied with the Dekor and cannot recommend it. I recommend investing in one of those odor-controlling diaper pails. disks for food For the time being, I'm keeping the odor under control by pouring cat litter deodorizer into the bin.
